About this role
About The Role
The role owns native mobile experiences end-to-end — building, shipping, and maintaining iOS and Android applications used by hundreds of thousands of daily users. This is a hands-on engineering position on a product-focused mobile team, working in Swift/Kotlin (or a shared framework like React Native or Kotlin Multiplatform) with direct ownership of features from design handoff through App Store and Play Store release.
Mobile is the primary surface for this product, so the work sits at the intersection of user experience and hard engineering problems: offline-first data sync, push notification infrastructure, deep linking, release automation, and squeezing performance out of constrained devices. The engineer will work closely with backend teams on API design and with product designers on interaction quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and ship user-facing features across iOS (Swift/SwiftUI) and Android (Kotlin/Jetpack Compose), owning implementation from spec to store release
- Design and integrate REST and GraphQL APIs, handling auth flows, pagination, caching, and offline-first sync behavior
- Own mobile CI/CD pipelines — automated builds, testing, code signing, and staged rollouts via Fastlane, App Store Connect, and Google Play Console
- Instrument apps with observability tooling (Crashlytics, Sentry, Firebase Analytics) and drive down crash rates and ANRs against explicit SLOs
- Optimize app performance: startup time, bundle size, memory footprint, battery usage, and render performance on low-end devices
- Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, and pairing; contribute to shared component libraries and team engineering standards
- Collaborate with product managers and designers in sprint planning, translating product requirements into phased technical plans
What We Are Looking For
- 3–6 years of professional mobile engineering experience, with shipped apps currently live on the App Store, Play Store, or both
- Deep proficiency in Swift or Kotlin; strong grasp of platform idioms (UIKit/SwiftUI or Compose, lifecycle management, concurrency — async/await or coroutines)
- Experience integrating with backend services (REST, GraphQL, gRPC) and managing local persistence (Core Data, Room, SQLite)
- Hands-on experience with automated testing for mobile: unit, snapshot/UI tests (XCTest, Espresso, Detox or Appium)
- Familiarity with modular app architecture patterns: MVVM, MVI, or Clean Architecture, and dependency injection frameworks
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience; demonstrated ownership of at least one app through multiple major releases
