Maximus Technology and Consulting Services (TCS) provides technology and consulting support for government and mission-focused programs. This position supports a United States Air Force (USAF) mission and is contingent on contract award and position availability.

About the Role

Maximus is seeking a Software Developer (Backend) to support back-end design, development, and integration for USAF systems. The role focuses on developing back-end architectures, building and modifying RESTful APIs, managing databases, and optimizing data models to support existing and new system capabilities.

The position is fully remote and requires an active TS/SCI security clearance, with the ability to obtain a CI Polygraph. Employment is contingent upon successful contract award to Maximus, position availability, and authorization to proceed.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop back-end architectures to support current and new system capabilities.
• Develop, modify, and maintain RESTful APIs and system integrations.
• Manage databases and develop and optimize data models.
• Provide analytical support for process improvement, specialized studies, and requirements definition.
• Prepare, conduct, and document system testing activities.
• Track software defects and test web-based applications.
• Contribute to software development programs and projects using object-oriented and scripting languages.
• Support DevSecOps practices, microservices, and container-based development environments.
• Develop and maintain software in cloud environments.
• Integrate data between unclassified and classified application deployments.
• Work with Jenkins, GitLab, and relevant development, testing, and build tools.
• Support AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes, and Red Hat Linux environments.
• Travel to a worksite as required, potentially 10–20% of the time.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; a Master’s degree may substitute for two years of experience.
• Seven years of overall experience in the relevant functional area.
• Seven years of software development experience using object-oriented and scripting languages, including DevSecOps, microservices, and container tool suites.
• Demonstrated experience preparing, conducting, and documenting system tests.
• Three years of experience using bug-tracking software such as Jira and testing web-based applications.
• Three years of experience participating in software development programs or projects.
• Practical experience developing in a cloud environment.
• Experience integrating data between unclassified and classified application deployments.
• Five years of experience with Jenkins and GitLab.
• Five years of experience with at least five of the following tools: NPM, Cypress.io, esbuild, Bun, Apache Tomcat, Maven, and SonarQube.
• Three years of recent back-end web design and development experience.
• Demonstrated experience with relational databases, RESTful API development and communication, and system integrations.
• Three years of experience with AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes, and Red Hat Linux.
• Active TS/SCI clearance and the ability to obtain a CI Polygraph.
• DCWF Code: 632 Intermediate.

Preferred Qualifications

• CSSLP certification.
• CompTIA Security+ certification.
• Salary and Benefits Annual salary range: $120,000–$150,000.
• Work Arrangement This is a remote position supporting a USAF mission.
• Travel to a worksite may be required 10–20% of the time.
