Data Scientist

Data Scientist Opportunity A leading government contractor is currently seeking a dedicated Data Scientist to join their professional team based in Northern Virginia. This full time position is located on site in the Springfield area and offers the opportunity to work directly with stakeholders and technical leadership to solve complex business challenges through advanced analytics.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the full lifecycle of data solutions, including the design, development, and deployment of predictive models. You will utilize a diverse range of data sources and apply modern statistical and mathematical methodologies to deliver actionable insights that meet mission requirements.

Basic Qualifications

• A Bachelors degree in a technical field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related engineering discipline is required.
• Applicants with a degree in another field must have completed at least 30 credit hours in computer science, statistics, or mathematics.
• Minimum of three years of professional experience focusing on data ingestion, extraction, and modeling.
• Proficiency in Python and the ability to write complex SQL queries.
• Strong understanding of model evaluation techniques and strategies for optimizing models both during development and after deployment.
• Proven ability to collaborate with subject matter experts to turn business requirements into technical documentation.
• Preferred Skills Background in behavioral analytics.
• Experience utilizing Oracle Apex.
• History of working with NLP tasks, specifically fine tuning BERT style models.
• Practical experience with Large Language Models and developing AI or Machine Learning solutions that utilize GPU acceleration.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git, Github, or Gitlab.
• Knowledge of building and maintaining CI CD pipelines.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting technical concepts to clients and team members.
• Security Clearance Requirements Candidates must possess an active TS SCI clearance and must be willing to undergo and maintain a polygraph examination.
• Physical Requirements The role requires the ability to remain stationary for long periods while conducting analysis and reporting.
• Occasional movement within the office environment is necessary to collaborate with colleagues and access specific mission systems.
