Job description

About this role

The Designer II role supports the design and development of aerospace and defense hardware by creating and modifying 3D models and detailed engineering drawings. This position works closely with engineers to translate concepts into manufacturable designs, perform design checks, manage CAD documentation within PLM systems, and improve product quality through design revisions.

The ideal candidate has strong CAD modeling experience, understands GD&T principles, and is comfortable working within highly controlled engineering environments.

Qualifications

Required

  • 2+ years of mechanical design or CAD drafting experience
  • Experience creating and modifying 3D models and detail drawings
  • Strong CAD skills with the ability to identify design inconsistencies
  • Understanding of GD&T principles and engineering drawing standards
  • Familiarity with material properties and manufacturing processes
  • Experience with PLM systems such as Teamcenter, Windchill, or similar
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and cross-functional teams
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills

Preferred

  • Experience with NX, SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar CAD platforms
  • Aerospace or defense industry experience
  • Knowledge of CNC machining and additive manufacturing
  • Experience managing engineering documentation and configuration control
  • Strong technical documentation and reporting skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
