About the Role
Join a dynamic team of software engineers responsible for the development and support of embedded application software for a new ground combat vehicle program.
This role will contribute throughout the full software development lifecycle, including:
- Designing and migrating to a new software development environment
- Developing requirements, design, and architecture documentation
- Developing, integrating, and testing software code
- Supporting software development across various vehicle domains
This position is 100% onsite in Sterling Heights, MI due to the nature of the work.
Responsibilities
- Develop software documentation and code across vehicle domains such as board support, cybersecurity, displays, and downloading.
- Perform software requirements analysis.
- Develop preliminary and detailed software designs using department-approved tools and standards.
- Develop software code in accordance with established department standards and procedures.
- Develop test procedures and perform unit and functional testing of executable software.
- Perform hardware/software integration.
- Debug software issues identified throughout multiple testing phases.
- Provide development status updates to software project leads.
- Contribute to software releases involving multiple developers.
- Collaborate with other departments and business units, including Systems Engineering and Software Quality.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- 1–4 years of experience in software development or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience with one or more of the following: Git, GitLab, Bitbucket, Java, C#, C++, C, Python, and Qt.
- Experience working in mixed operating system environments, including VxWorks, Linux, RTOS, virtualization, BSPs, GVOS, or similar platforms.
- Experience with serial and network protocols such as RS-232/422, CAN, TCP/IP, and UDP/IP.
- Experience with DDS, Kafka, or other publish/subscribe middleware.
- Experience with ground combat vehicle network architecture.
- Familiarity with GCIA, MOSA, SOSA, and/or FACE standards.
- Experience working with Agile development processes and tools.
Preferred / Additional Experience
- Previous experience working in the defense industry.
- Familiarity with Type 1/Type 2 hypervisors.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with IoT concepts.
- Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler.
- Experience with Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) architectures.
- Experience with the NGVA (NATO Generic Vehicle Architecture) data model.
- Experience with the UKGVA (UK Ground Vehicle Architecture) data model.
- Experience with Data Distribution Service (DDS).
- Experience with UDP and TCP networking protocols.
- Experience with multicast networking.
- Ability to implement continuous improvement processes and methodologies.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime as required.
- Position may require the ability to climb on and off, work inside, and work around military vehicles.
- Must be able to pass an
