Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care for adult med-surg patients on a high-acuity unit, including trauma, falls, fractures, and post-injury management; monitor patient status and respond to changes promptly.
• Administer prescribed medications and therapies, including heparin drips and other acute medications, and perform IV therapy as ordered; monitor for adverse effects and ensure safety.
• Participate in delirium prevention, early mobility initiatives, HAPI and falls prevention strategies; facilitate timely patient mobilization and rehabilitation activities within the care plan.
• Support family involvement and education; document thorough handoffs and provide clear explanations of care plans to patients and families.
• Utilize appropriate equipment (gait belts, geriatric chairs, PT equipment) and coordinate with the interdisciplinary team; document in the electronic medical record and ensure demographic information is loaded as needed, including badge photos when required.
• Maintain accuracy and compliance in medication administration, telemetry monitoring, and documentation; escalate deterioration or safety concerns to the charge nurse and medical team.

Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license in Georgia (or eligibility for GA licensure following applicable rules)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Documented med–surg (medical-surgical) and telemetry experience; geriatric and trauma/ortho trauma experience on a med-surg unit
• Associate or Bachelor degree in Nursing from an accredited program
• Ability to work effectively in a hospital med-surg setting and to adapt to a night-shift schedule
• EPIC EMR experience preferred; able to document thoroughly and load patient demographics, including badge photo where required
