About this role
Member of Technical Staff – Full-Stack Engineer, Capacity Planning Products
Do you want to see your software drive decisions on one of the largest public-cloud footprints in the world? Do you want to turn complex forecasting data into fast, trustworthy interfaces that planners, engineering leaders, and finance partners rely on? Are you excited to build data-rich products on AWS, and to use AI-assisted development to ship faster without lowering the quality bar?
As a Member of Technical Staff on the Capacity team within Cloud Economics & Capacity Management at Salesforce, you’ll build the products Salesforce uses to forecast, reserve, and optimize compute capacity across AWS and GCP. Your work will shape both reliability and cloud spend. You’ll own what you ship, from design through production.
Responsibilities
- Design and ship end-to-end product features, from interactive, data-rich UIs (React, Python/Dash) through the APIs and services behind them
- Develop responsive, accessible front-end interfaces using modern frameworks, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS
- Build and maintain scalable back-end services and APIs (Python preferred) with solid business logic, data models, and integrations
- Design and query databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), and optimize for performance and data integrity
- Work directly with product managers and stakeholders to shape requirements, not just implement them
- Write design docs for features you own and take part in architecture reviews
- Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, and improve our CI/CD pipelines
- Participate in the team’s on-call rotation: debug production issues and improve monitoring and alerting
- Use AI-assisted development tools effectively, holding generated code to the same quality bar as your own
Required Skills:
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, including shipping user-facing product features
- Strong experience with a modern front-end framework (React or similar) and a back-end language (Python preferred)
- Experience building data-heavy UIs such as dashboards, tables, and charts, with attention to usability and performance
- Solid SQL skills and experience designing REST APIs
- Hands-on experience deploying to a public cloud (AWS preferred; GCP or Azure also valued)
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and troubleshoot production issues
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially in design docs and code reviews
Desired Skills:
- Experience with Dash/Plotly or other data-visualization libraries
- Front-end performance work: rendering, bundle size, virtualization, Lighthouse/Web Vitals
- Experience with Kubernetes, Trino/Presto, or Airflow
- Experience with monitoring and alerting tools
- Knowledge of AI and LLMs, and experience using them in development workflows
