About this role

Executive Summary & Organizational Context

Within Salesforce Professional Services, the Senior Technical Consultant — Automotive Cloud role occupies a vital strategic position at the bleeding edge of AI CRM and automotive industry digital transformation.

As automotive enterprises navigate sweeping market disruptions—from electric vehicle transitions and direct-to-consumer sales models to connected vehicle telemetry and autonomous fleets—this role serves as the bridge between pioneering platform capabilities and real-world enterprise execution. Salesforce stands as the #1 AI CRM, defining an ecosystem where humans with agents drive customer success together.

It is an organizational environment where ambition meets action, technology meets trust, and innovation functions as an operating principle.

As Salesforce leads global workforce transformation in the agentic era, the practice actively seeks Trailblazers who are passionate about bettering business and the world through artificial intelligence, driving rapid innovation, and keeping core values like trust at the center of every client commitment.

Operating in a paradigm where Agentforce represents the future of autonomous and assisted AI interactions, incoming talent directly shapes the trajectory of Salesforce by translating cutting-edge platform capabilities into measurable enterprise value. The Senior Technical Consultant operates as a hands-on advisor positioned directly at the intersection of Salesforce platform architecture and deep automotive domain knowledge.

Covering an enterprise scope that spans Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), authorized dealership networks, commercial fleet operators, and emerging mobility providers, the consultant acts as the trusted technical voice for client leadership navigating complex digital transformations.

In this capacity, the consultant leads critical work streams within enterprise engagements by architecting solutions, guiding technical implementation teams, presenting and defending technical designs before client governing bodies, evaluating complex solution trade-offs, proactively mitigating architectural risk, and seeing issues through to complete resolution.

Building upon this organizational mission, the following section outlines the specific technical responsibilities, domain implementations, and high-impact work streams that define daily execution in this role.

2. Strategic Impact & Core Responsibilities The Senior Technical Consultant accelerates time-to-value, mitigates architecture-level risk, and drives sustained enterprise value across high-stakes customer engagements. By combining hands-on technical design with strategic risk management, the role ensures that automotive clients successfully translate complex platform capabilities into resilient, scalable operational outcomes.

Technical Architecture &

Work Stream Leadership

  • Lead the end-to-end technical design and delivery of dedicated work streams within the automotive domain, maximizing the capabilities of Salesforce Automotive Cloud and adjacent platform components.
  • Author and govern application and technical design documents (ADD/TDD) that strictly adhere to Salesforce architecture best practices while seamlessly aligning with the client's broader enterprise ecosystem—including legacy Dealer Management Systems (DMS), vehicle telemetry data pipelines, and connected vehicle cloud infrastructure.
  • Establish and enforce robust technical standards across the full Salesforce stack, guiding project teams on optimal integration patterns (REST, SOAP, and event-driven architectures), environment management frameworks, deployment pipelines, and automated testing strategies.

Core Automotive Domain Implementation

Architect and deploy tailored, enterprise-grade capabilities across primary functional automotive work streams:

  • Vehicle Lifecycle Management: Implement end-to-end tracking of vehicle assets from manufacturing assembly through inventory pipeline, retail sale, warranty period, and secondary market disposition—integrating telematics data to create a living, single source of truth for every VIN.
  • Dealer Network Operations: Streamline OEM-to-dealer interactions by unifying lead distribution, co-op sales programs, inventory sharing, and warranty claim processing, ensuring consistent brand standards and transparent operational visibility across distributed retail networks.
  • Fleet Management: Construct scalable multi-vehicle management frameworks that support commercial fleet accounts, enabling centralized tracking of preventative maintenance schedules, driver assignments, telematics alerts, and contract lifecycles.
  • Service Scheduling & Retention: Connect vehicle telematics and diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) directly into intelligent dealer service scheduling workflows, driving proactive maintenance outreach, reducing customer friction, and maximizing dealer workshop utilization.
  • Customer Journey Orchestration: Unify siloed customer data across OEM marketing, dealership sales, and aftersales service channels to execute personalized, multi-channel customer journeys that enhance lifetime customer value and brand loyalty.

AI-Native Delivery & Future-Proofing

  • Drive continuous up-skilling in AI Fluency and AI-native delivery practices, leveraging Agentforce capabilities to power domain-specific automotive use cases such as intelligent dealer assist, connected vehicle conversational agents, and predictive service recommendations.
  • Operationalize advanced AI developer tools and assistants—specifically Agentforce Vibes, Cursor, and Claude—into daily delivery workflows to streamline complex APEX code generation, automate unit test creation, accelerate technical design drafting, and maintain superior delivery velocity and code quality.

Advisory, Risk Management & Mentorship

  • Provide hands-on advisory leadership during critical project inflection points, rapidly troubleshooting complex technical issues, performing root-cause analyses, and driving technical impediments through to full resolution.
  • Manage high-stakes client expectations by negotiating complex technical solutions and architecture trade-offs across executive client leadership, OEM technology groups, and third-party systems integrators.
  • Actively mentor junior consultants and technical architects, instilling technical rigor and sharing domain assets to grow and scale the broader Automotive Services Practice.

Executing these technical responsibilities and high-impact work streams requires a proven foundation of enterprise architecture experience, platform mastery, and specialized automotive domain acumen.
