About this role
Teamwork makes the stream work.
Roku is changing how the world watches TV
Roku is the #1 TV streaming platform in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, and we've set our sights on powering every television in the world. Roku pioneered streaming to the TV. Our mission is to be the TV streaming platform that connects the entire TV ecosystem.
We connect consumers to the content they love, enable content publishers to build and monetize large audiences, and provide advertisers unique capabilities to engage consumers.
From your first day at Roku, you'll make a valuable - and valued - contribution. We're a fast-growing public company where no one is a bystander. We offer you the opportunity to delight millions of TV streamers around the world while gaining meaningful experience across a variety of disciplines.
About the Role
This Old House is America's most trusted home-improvement brand, known for its long-running television series, expert advice, and project-based storytelling. As part of Roku, the brand is expanding its digital reach, member offerings, and commerce and advertising opportunities. Our content team sits at the center of that effort, turning the brand's television legacy into useful, search-visible, trustworthy digital content.
The Digital Content Manager leads day-to-day editorial strategy, planning, and execution for ThisOldHouse.com, while supporting This Old House Insider (our premium membership) and the secondary This First House website. You will oversee original, sponsored, and television-tied content and manage freelancers and agency partners.
You will report to the hiring manager and work closely with production, marketing, sales, commerce, design, and technology teams.
What You'll Be Doing
Editorial strategy and planning
- Co-own the editorial strategy and a rolling content calendar for ThisOldHouse.com, balancing original content, television coverage, seasonal demand (spring outdoor projects, fall, holiday gifting), and business priorities. Flag conflicts and gaps early.
- Recommend what to create, update, expand, promote, or retire, using data rather than instinct alone.
Content and television coverage
- Lead digital coverage for This Old House, Ask This Old House, This First House, and related programming, partnering with production on project features, articles, and videos. Time releases to the broadcast and streaming schedule so web content drives tune-in.
- Oversee original content including project-house coverage, Before & Afters, design and expert content, House One projects, research, guides, and special editorial initiatives.
- Write, edit, and fact-check as needed, upholding the brand's reputation for accurate, expert-reviewed advice and ensuring content meets voice, style, image, caption, and metadata standards.
- Develop content for This Old House Insider, including articles, videos, and project plans.
- Co-own editorial planning for ThisFirstHouse.com, keeping it timely and aligned with the main site.
Site management
- Use the CMS to build and publish pages, manage modules and navigation, and keep homepages, hubs, landing pages, and seasonal collections fresh. Check that live pages display correctly on desktop and mobile.
Analytics, search, and AI
- Help track traffic, engagement, search, video, and commerce analytics using traditional and AI-powered tools, and produce regular performance summaries with clear takeaways and next steps.
- Apply SEO, generative engine optimization (GEO), and AI search optimization (AIO) best practices to new content and refresh plans, and keep current as search changes.
- Identify opportunities to use AI and automation in article production, optimization, metadata, QA, and content maintenance, with human review to protect accuracy and brand standards. Document workflows so others can follow them.
Partners and collaboration
- Manage freelance contributors from assignment through publication with clear briefs, deadlines, and quality standards.
- Lead content maintenance and affiliate-content planning with internal stakeholders and Home Solutions, our third-party website and affiliate content agency.
- Develop and deliver sponsored content with sales, marketing, production, and external partners.
- Partner with the lifecycle marketing lead on newsletter and email strategy and with the social media lead on distribution, so website, Insider, and television content reaches audiences across platforms.
We're excited if you have
- 2–5 years of experience in digital content, editorial, or content marketing, ideally for a consumer web publisher, media brand, or lifestyle site, and a bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English, marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- A portfolio showing published digital content you planned, wrote, edited, or optimized.
- Strong writing, editing, and fact-checking skills, with a clear sense of audience and brand voice.
- Experience managing freelancers or working with agency partners.
- Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals, curiosity about GEO and AI search, and basic familiarity with HTML, structured data, and tools like Search Console, Semrush, or Ahrefs.
- CMS publishing experience, including updating pages, modules, and collections.
- Experience or strong interest in using AI tools to improve content workflows, with good judgment about accuracy and human review.
- Strong organization and deadline discipline across many concurrent projects, and the flexibility to shift priorities as TV schedules, seasonal moments, and business needs change.
- A self-starter's initiative: you spot opportunities and recommend priorities without waiting for direction.
- A clear, collaborative communication style with internal partners, freelancers, and agencies.
- Interest in or experience with home improvement, DIY, or home design content, and familiarity with affiliate, commerce, or sponsored content workflows.

What should I know about Roku's culture?
Roku is a great place for people who want to work in a fast-paced environment where everyone is focused on the company's success rather than their own. We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humor.
We believe a fewer number of very talented folks can do more for less cost than a larger number of less talented teams. We're independent thinkers with big ideas who act boldly, move fast and accomplish extraordinary things through collaboration and trust. In short, at Roku you'll be part of a company that's changing how the world watches TV.
We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn't real until it is built and delivered to the customer.
That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.
