Overview Microsoft is seeking a  Software Development Presales Solution Engineer  to help SLED enterprise customers understand the ever changing AI landscape and how adopting  GitHub Copilot, GitHub Enterprise, and the Microsoft developer platform  will accelerate software delivery, improve developer productivity, and modernize engineering practices.

In this customer-facing technical sales role, you will lead GitHub-focused hackathons, provide demos in person and virtually. Lead in-person training sessions helping customers identify high-value scenarios, remove blockers, and deliver at scale AI-powered development across teams.

Working knowledge of Copilot Studio, Agentic AI Application Development, Developer Workflow, and Foundry is important for helping our customer transform.

Responsibilities

  • Team with virtual sales team to identify and accelerate customer transformation using GitHub Copilot and GitHub Enterprise
  • Coordinate and lead in-person training sessions of 50+ attendees
  • Lead calls with diverse audiences from the executive suite to the developer team
  • Lead customer technical engagements for GitHub Copilot and GitHub Enterprise, including discovery, demos, workshops, pilots, and adoption planning
  • Translate technical capabilities into business outcomes such as faster delivery, improved developer satisfaction, stronger security, and accelerated modernization
  • Must have a keen understanding of licensing/billing/token optimization
  • Drive GitHub Copilot sales and adoption at scale by identifying priority use cases for Education, State & Local Agencies, and Academic Medical Centers
  • Guide customers on DevOps, secure software delivery, CI/CD, developer experience, governance, and integration with Azure and Microsoft 365
  • Lead technical compete discussions by positioning GitHub Copilot against alternative AI developer tools with focus on enterprise readiness, security, and adoption impact

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 4+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR 5+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud

background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

  • Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due

to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal,

state, and/or local United States government agency customer and is subject to certain

citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal

requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport, or other approved documents, or

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience with software engineering, solution architecture, DevOps, developer platforms, cloud platforms, technical sales, or related technical roles
  • Experience engaging enterprise customers and influencing technical decision-makers across engineering, architecture, security, and business stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of modern software development practices, including DevOps, CI/CD, code review, secure development, testing automation, and developer productivity.
  • Ability to lead and drive at scale customer-facing technical engagements such as workshops, demos, architecture sessions, pilots, proof-of-concepts, or adoption programs
  • Software Development experience in SLED
  • Hands-on experience with GitHub Copilot, GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, GitHub Advanced Security, or comparable developer platform technologies.
  • Experience driving adoption of developer productivity, DevSecOps, platform engineering, application modernization, or AI-enabled software engineering initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Foundry, Azure DevOps, Visual Studio Code, Microsoft Entra, Microsoft Defender, and enterprise cloud security patterns.
  • Familiarity with the broader AI-powered and agentic development ecosystem, including tools such as Cursor, Claude, Claude Skills, or similar developer platforms.
  • Candidates must live in Eastern United States within 60 miles of International Airport

Solution Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U. S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year.

There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
