About this role
Overview The Microsoft AI Experiences (AIX) team owns how consent is captured and honored across Ads, Bing, Copilot, Edge, MSN and other products, and how the data behind personalized and generic ads is collected and used within the choices users have made. We are hiring a Principal Product Manager to help build the privacy products that Microsoft's consumer monetization runs on.
You'll work on the consent management platform that every consumer surface integrates with and on the services that carry a user's choices to the systems that read them, and you'll look for new privacy-preserving ways to collect, expose, and use data so that ads can be measured and personalized with less personal data.
Privacy reviews and assessments stay with our privacy, legal, and policy partners, and most of your days are spent with engineering, data science, and design, writing the requirements and running the experiments yourself.
As a Principal Product Manager , you'll own a defined part of the privacy product roadmap end to end, from PRD through launch and iteration. You'll build ads and AI product intuition, and you'll get a lot of practice weighing how much data a feature needs against what users expect and what regulators allow, in products that hundreds of millions of people use.
Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
AI Experiences employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft Hub in the U.S. are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.
Responsibilities
- Own consent management products end to end, including the consent experiences users see, the SDKs and APIs product teams integrate, and the services that store consent state and pass it to the ads systems that read it.
- Find and ship privacy-preserving ways to collect and use data for monetization. That could be aggregated or on-device measurement, clean rooms, differential privacy, or better non-personal signals for generic ads, and each idea needs a sized revenue and quality case before engineering commits to it.
- Run consent flows the way you'd run any consumer funnel, with metrics for consent and opt-out rates, signal coverage, and integration health, and with experiments on the experiences themselves.
- Make the privacy-correct implementation the easiest one for partner teams to ship, which mostly comes down to clean integrations and good defaults, and track adoption across the surfaces that use your products.
- Work with privacy, legal, and policy partners to turn GDPR, ePrivacy, US state privacy laws, the DMA, and IAB frameworks like TCF and GPP into product and engineering requirements.
- Keep partner teams in Ads, Copilot, Edge, and elsewhere informed about dependencies and dates, since most of what you ship ends up inside their products.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience shipping consumer or ads products where privacy or consent requirements shaped what got built, such as consent management platforms, identity, ad measurement, or personalization.
- Working knowledge of privacy-enhancing technologies like aggregation, differential privacy, clean rooms, on-device processing, and pseudonymization, and of how consent signals travel through an ad tech stack.
- Familiarity with GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, the DMA, and IAB TCF and GPP, enough to know what each one means for a product spec.
- Technical fluency with APIs, SDKs, data pipelines, and experimentation systems, and a track record of using experiment results to make product decisions.
- Experience shipping work that depends on other teams' roadmaps and keeping it on schedule.
