Job description

About this role

Overview Microsoft is on a mission to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. Our culture is anchored on embracing a growth mindset, where anyone can change, learn, and grow.

Four attributes allow this growth mindset to flourish: obsessing over what matters to our customers, becoming more diverse and inclusive in everything we do and create, operating as one company instead of multiple siloed businesses and lastly, making a difference in the lives of each other, our customers and the world around us. You can help us build our culture and achieve our mission.

Microsoft Frontier Company is a new line of business and one of the industry's first customer outcome-driven organizations, bringing together industry expertise, strategic partnerships and engineering as part of MCAPS. Its teams will work side-by-side with customers to co-design, deploy, and continuously improve AI systems that deliver measurable, customer-defined outcomes.

The organization is built around end-to-end Frontier Transformation, helping customers turn AI into real, lasting business value. For those joining, it's a chance to help build a new growth engine for Microsoft and shape how the industry moves from delivering technology to delivering outcomes.

Candidates who live within 50 miles of Microsoft's Redmond campus will be required to work in the office 3 days per week.

Responsibilities

The Change and Adoption / Professional Services team is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and creative Director of Executive Communications.

In this role, you will report to the CVP for Change and Adoption / Professional Services and will be responsible for leading both external and internal communications for the team. You will work directly with the CVP and members of their team to drive business impact and thought leadership.

This is an opportunity to shape the voice of a leader and a growing organization at the forefront of helping customers turn AI ambition into lasting business outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop the CVP’s communications strategy and lead execution of scalable plans that drive business impact and help grow the Forward Deployment Engineers (FDE) pipeline.
  • Develop core messaging and narratives that bring the Frontier Co purpose and business priorities to life through creative, proactive storytelling for internal and external audiences.
  • Shape executive messaging informed by the tech industry, Microsoft’s strategy, products, services, and culture, and build the case for communications recommendations that advance business priorities.
  • Build an internal communications plan that keeps the team connected to its priorities and brings its progress to life for the broader Frontier Co organization and Core and Field teams, as appropriate.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for the CVP’s internal and external speaking, traditional media, and social media requests. Partner with appropriate teams to triage requests, align them with strategy and team priorities, and ensure the positioning and tone are right for executive engagement.
  • Create and align communications plans to RoB, business priorities and broader Frontier Co communications.
  • Develop and execute a thoughtful social media strategy for the CVP, using an understanding of the social landscape to amplify her voice.
  • Build alignment across teams and functions to advance the CVP’s communications priorities.
  • Navigate differing perspectives and resolve issues thoughtfully to keep communications work moving.
  • Manage competing priorities in a dynamic, evolving environment while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
  • Handle sensitive corporate information with discretion and sound judgment.
