This is a once-in-a-career chance to get in on the ground floor of a state-of-the-art facility. You won't just be filling a role—you'll be a founding member who will design, implement, and define the culture and operating procedures for our entire US operation.

If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and want to have a direct, tangible impact on our success from day one, join us and help build the future of automotive manufacturing in Austin!

About the Role

The HR Coordinator is the on-shift face of Human Resources for the plant. Assigned to 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift, this role is the first point of contact for employee questions and concerns, resolves minor employee relations issues, and keeps HR processes running on the floor when the HR Manager is not on site.

The coordinator works closely with production managers, supervisors, team leads, EHS and our staffing agency partner to support a fast-growing workforce across the Seats and Interior business lines.

Key Responsibilities

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary on-shift HR point of contact for employee questions on pay, timecards, PTO, attendance, benefits, leaves and company policies.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the production floor through regular floor walks and scheduled HR office hours; support an open-door culture.
  • Log, track and follow up on employee inquiries and concerns through resolution; escalate issues outside scope to the HR Manager.
  • Handle minor employee relations issues (attendance disputes, peer conflicts, dress code and break violations, general complaints) and coach supervisors and team leads on fair, consistent first-level resolution.
  • Gather facts and take initial statements for employee complaints; immediately escalate any concern involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, workplace violence, safety or potential legal exposure.
  • Prepare and document verbal and written warnings under the progressive discipline policy; serve as HR witness and maintain complete records.
  • Review and correct timecard exceptions in Paylocity (missed punches, edits, overtime) and verify shift differential, overtime and holiday pay coding before payroll deadlines.
  • Track attendance points and notify supervisors when employees reach policy thresholds.
  • Coordinate with the staffing agency on headcount requests, start dates, no-shows and temp-to-hire conversions.
  • Conduct HR initial interviews for operator and production roles to support the plant's 2-week time-to-fill target.
  • Lead new hire orientation; complete I-9 and E-Verify, policy acknowledgments and onboarding paperwork; conduct 30/60/90-day new hire check-ins.
  • Schedule and track required training and certifications; keep training records and the ILUO skills matrix current for the assigned shift.
  • Partner with EHS on injury and incident reporting, post-accident and reasonable-suspicion drug and alcohol testing, workers' compensation claims, and return-to-work/light-duty coordination.
  • Join EHS floor walks and reinforce plant safety rules and PPE requirements.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential personnel files and HRIS data for new hires, status changes, transfers, promotions and separations.
  • Process leave of absence and accommodation paperwork (FMLA, ADA, personal leave) and route to the HR Manager for approval.
  • Conduct exit interviews and complete separation checklists; report turnover and employee concern trends by shift and department.
  • Keep federal and state labor law postings current; communicate plant announcements, policy updates and benefit reminders on the assigned shift.
  • Support employee engagement and recognition events, shift meetings, open enrollment sessions and employee surveys.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
