Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant works collaboratively with a physician in an outpatient setting.

Job Functions

Under the direction and supervision of a licensed physician, provides cardiac care to patients.

Perform comprehensive inpatient/outpatient visits which include

Outpatient:

• Conduct comprehensive or episodic health history and physical assessment of patients with acute, chronic and/or with potential health problems.
• Establish medical diagnoses. Write specific orders within the limits of the practice agreement/scope of practice.
• Perform stress testing, provide appropriate direction to office staff regarding patient care issues (triage calls etc. Manages or independently performs evaluative and treatment necessary to provide an appropriate response to life threatening emergency situations until the arrival of emergency response teams.
• Communicates effectively with referring and primary health care providers. Manage independent outpatient clinical practice and coverage for collaborating physicians, including rotating on call weekday/weekend night and weekend coverage.
• Maintain clinical documentation according to group practice.
• Educates patients and families on treatment and wellness care plans

Position Requirements

Required Certification:

• Graduate of a Master's or Doctorate from an approved NP/PA Program
• Must have an unrestricted license in the State of New York as an NP or PA
• Current DEA registration and current ACLS/BLS Certification
• In addition, the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will perform other duties as assigned by supervising physicians.
• The Nurse Practitioner will assist in answering messages.
