Tax & Accounting Associate

As a seasonal Tax Associate at Secure Accounting, you'll have the opportunity to begin or advance your career in tax preparation and client services—no prior professional tax experience required.

With training resources and support from experienced team members, you'll work directly with clients to gather financial information, prepare accurate tax returns, answer questions, and develop valuable professional skills.

You'll earn a competitive hourly rate, with opportunities for professional growth as you expand your tax knowledge and experience.

This is an in-person position at a Secure Accounting office.

What You'll Do

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their individual tax situations.
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns using available training resources and guidance from experienced team members.
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations clients can easily understand.
• Identify potential tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant tax and financial services.
• Apply problem-solving skills to analyze financial information, answer client questions, and address unique tax situations.
• Build strong client relationships and contribute to office goals through teamwork, collaboration, and exceptional customer service.

Required Qualifications

• Successful completion of an approved income tax preparation course or tax knowledge assessment before independently preparing client returns.
• Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain information clearly and ask relevant questions.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
• Comfortable using digital tools and technology, including AI-assisted tools such as Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT, in accordance with company confidentiality and data-security policies.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid IRS Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN), as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
• Experience in a client-facing or consultative position, including banking, financial services, insurance, retail sales, or professional services.
• Experience identifying customer needs and recommending appropriate solutions.
• Ability to work approximately 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak tax season.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during tax season.
• Bilingual communication skills are a plus.
