Senior Capital Asset Accountant (12 Week Contract, Hybrid)

Location: Red Wing, MN (hybrid, onsite Tuesdays and Wednesdays) Type: Contract, 12 weeks

Our client, a well-known Minnesota manufacturer and retailer, is looking for a Senior Capital Asset Accountant to join their finance team for a 12 week contract while they recruit for a full-time hire. This is a great fit if you enjoy stepping in, getting oriented quickly, and making a real difference from the first week.

What you will do

You will take on fixed asset and capital accounting work with limited ramp-up time. Day to day, that includes:

• Managing CIP and project closeout
• Making capitalization versus expense determinations
• Processing asset additions, transfers, and disposals
• Handling depreciation, month-end close, and reconciliations
• Preparing capital expenditure reporting
• Partnering with project managers and FP&A on project tracking, forecasting, and invoice and PO completeness
• Supporting compliance with the capital policy and approval process

What we are looking for

• 5 to 7 years of public or corporate accounting experience, including month-end close
• Hands-on fixed asset and capital accounting experience (lease accounting is a plus)
• Strong GAAP and internal control knowledge
• Advanced Excel skills and a sharp eye for detail
• Comfort working independently and across departments with minimal supervision
• Clear communication skills, written and verbal
• Experience with M3 and OneStream is very helpful given the short timeline
• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is helpful but not required

Work setup

This role is hybrid. You will work remotely part of the week and join the team onsite in Red Wing, MN on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Candidates should live within commuting distance of Red Wing.

Pay: $40.00 - $65.00 per hour
