About this role

Saunaday | Full-Time | Madison, WI

Compensation: $50,000-$65,000

About Saunaday

Saunaday is a community-centered bathhouse built around the restorative power of communal sauna, cold plunge, and intentional connection. We believe great guest experiences come from genuine hospitality, thoughtful details, a well-supported team, and a space that feels safe, welcoming, and cared for.

Why Work at Saunaday?

We believe taking care of people starts with taking care of our team. At Saunaday, you'll be part of a welcoming, community-driven environment where thoughtful hospitality, personal connection, and a little fun are part of the everyday experience.

We're a growing business with big ideas, a passionate team, and plenty of opportunities to contribute, take initiative, and make a meaningful impact. We value people who bring fresh ideas, support one another, and aren't afraid to roll up their sleeves to make something great happen.

This role is an opportunity to grow as a leader, build valuable management skills, help shape how Saunaday operates, and be part of a team that's creating something special in our community. As we grow, there is room to grow with us.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salaried role with a total compensation range of $50-$65k annually, inclusive of tips.
  • Quarterly discretionary bonuses based on performance
  • 401k with employer match
  • Paid time off
  • Health-Dental-Vision Insurance Plan
  • Complimentary access to bathhouse amenities and discounted use for friends and family.

The Role

The Assistant Manager of Operations (ASM) plays a key role in ensuring Saunaday runs smoothly, consistently, and efficiently. Working closely with the Manager of Guest Experience, this person helps translate Saunaday's standards and priorities into daily operations while supporting the team and maintaining an excellent guest experience.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is organized, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership. The ASM oversees day-to-day operations, coordinates staffing and scheduling, supports team leadership, maintains operational systems, and identifies opportunities to improve how we work.

We're looking for someone who can solve problems independently, anticipate needs, and ensure important details are followed through without losing sight of the people behind the work.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations & Facility Readiness

  • Oversee daily operational needs and ensure the bathhouse is safe, clean, organized, and prepared for guests.
  • Coordinate facility maintenance, operational resources, and day-to-day problem-solving.
  • Identify and address operational challenges before they affect the guest or employee experience.

Staffing & Team Leadership

  • Create and maintain staff schedules, coordinate coverage, and anticipate staffing needs.
  • Support and hold Leaders on Duty accountable for their responsibilities and shift leadership.
  • Assist with staff training, coaching, onboarding, and ongoing development.
  • Communicate team needs, performance concerns, and staffing trends to the Manager of Guest Experience.

Systems & Processes

  • Implement and reinforce operational standards, procedures, and systems established by management.
  • Ensure staff understand expectations and receive additional training when needed.
  • Maintain effective day-to-day workflows and identify opportunities for improvement.

Inventory & Operational Resources

  • Oversee inventory management, supply levels, and routine purchasing within established guidelines.
  • Help maintain accurate product information, pricing, and inventory records across operational systems.
  • Monitor supply needs and communicate purchasing or cost concerns to management.

Communication, Reporting & Events

  • Maintain clear communication with Leaders on Duty, staff, and management.
  • Track operational needs, staffing concerns, inventory, maintenance, and recurring challenges.
  • Support the coordination and execution of events, private buyouts, and special programming.
  • Follow through on outstanding tasks and communicate important updates, trends, and recommendations.

Guest Experience & Team

Support

  • Ensure daily operations support Saunaday's standards for hospitality, safety, and consistency.
  • Help resolve operational obstacles that affect the guest experience.
  • Lead by example through accountability, thoughtful communication, and genuine care for guests and coworkers.

What We're Looking For

  • Two years experience in hospitality, wellness, or another service-oriented environment.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive approach to planning, prioritizing, and following through.
  • The ability to coach others, communicate expectations, and hold a team accountable with empathy and consistency.
  • Comfort learning operational systems, scheduling tools, and inventory processes.
  • A collaborative mindset and a genuine appreciation for thoughtful hospitality.

Working Together

The ASM works in partnership with the Manager of Guest Experience to support Saunaday's overall goals and daily operations. While the Manager of Guest Experience provides broader direction, establishes standards, and oversees business priorities, the ASM focuses on ensuring those expectations are carried out consistently.

This role is empowered to take ownership of routine operational decisions, support and develop shift leaders, and bring forward challenges and opportunities for improvement. Responsibilities and workflows may evolve as Saunaday grows and the leadership team develops.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means Saunaday is well-staffed, operationally prepared, and running consistently; Leaders on Duty feel supported and accountable; staff have the tools and direction they need; and operational challenges are addressed proactively.

Above all, the ASM helps create the structure and consistency that allow our team to focus on what matters most: delivering a thoughtful, welcoming, and memorable Saunaday experience.

We're looking for someone who takes initiative, brings solutions, and takes pride in making things run well — for both our guests and our team.
