Job description

About this role

At the interface of design, engineering and supply logistics, REHAU Automotive and SRG Global combine to form RESRG - a leading global supplier of coated exterior systems and components. With a combined track record of over 160 years across four continents and 22 production sites, RESRG's 10,000 skilled team members manufacture the latest exterior systems and components for the world's leading automotive manufacturers.

We are looking for you to join our team as Senior Autonomous Systems Engineer at our Portageville, Missouri facility!

Your Job

You will help transform our Portageville operation into one of the most advanced manufacturing facilities in North America.

This is an opportunity to design the future state of manufacturing from the ground up by developing factory layouts, optimizing material flow, deploying advanced simulation tools, and creating the infrastructure required to support our Overall Automation Maturity Index (OAMI) strategy and Lights-Out Manufacturing roadmap.

You will work at the intersection of manufacturing, automation, robotics, logistics, and digital engineering to create highly efficient production systems that maximize productivity, minimize waste, and support autonomous operations.

If you enjoy solving complex operational challenges, visualizing the factory before it is built, and creating innovative solutions that redefine manufacturing performance, this role was built for you.

What You Will Do in Your Role

  • Develop and optimize plant, department, and production layouts using AutoCAD and advanced 3D modeling tools.
  • Create digital factory models and simulations to validate future manufacturing concepts before implementation.
  • Design material handling routes that maximize efficiency while supporting robotic, AGV, and AMR operations.
  • Analyze and optimize product flow, inventory flow, and information flow throughout the facility.
  • Lead value stream mapping and factory optimization initiatives to reduce waste and improve productivity.
  • Support the deployment of advanced automation systems by ensuring proper equipment placement, flow paths, and operational integration.
  • Develop capacity models and scenario analysis to support growth, expansion, and future-state planning.
  • Partner with robotics, controls, manufacturing, quality, maintenance, and operations teams to execute transformation projects.
  • Utilize simulation and modeling software to evaluate throughput, bottlenecks, labor utilization, and system performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that advance OAMI maturity and support increasing levels of autonomous manufacturing.
  • Establish factory standards for layout design, material movement, storage strategies, and operational excellence.
  • Support brownfield projects from concept development through implementation.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • BS/MS in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial engineering, or operations optimization.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD for facility and manufacturing layout development.
  • Experience in creating detailed plant layouts, workstation designs, and facility flow plans.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, value stream mapping, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and project management abilities.
  • Ability to visualize and design complex manufacturing systems.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience with 3D factory simulation and modeling software.
  • Experience with FlexSim or similar simulation platforms.
  • Knowledge of AGVs, AMRs, automated storage systems, and autonomous material handling.
  • Experience developing warehouses and production material flow strategies.
  • Understanding of robotic manufacturing systems and automation integration.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of Industry 4.0, digital twins, smart factories, and advanced manufacturing technologies.

Join the Team Shaping the Next Generation of Manufacturing

At RESRG Automotive, we are investing in technologies, people, and ideas that will define the future of manufacturing. As a Senior Autonomous Systems Engineer
