Jr Systems Engineer

Razor is seeking a

Junior Systems Engineer

to support Linux systems engineering, AWS cloud infrastructure, container administration, and DevSecOps automation for a federal IT program. This position will focus on improving software development and deployment processes through automation, cloud technologies, and continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) practices.

The ideal candidate will have at least

1 year of hands-on experience with Linux, AWS, container platforms, and infrastructure automation

. This is a technical infrastructure and automation position requiring practical systems engineering experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Support, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot

Linux-based systems

and AWS cloud infrastructure.

• Administer and support containerized environments using

Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or AWS EKS

.

• Assist in developing, maintaining, and optimizing automated

CI/CD pipelines

to improve software build, testing, and deployment processes.

• Develop and maintain scripts using

Python, Bash, Ansible, or Terraform

to automate infrastructure management and deployment activities.

• Support

Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

practices to streamline cloud resource provisioning and system configuration.

• Collaborate with software development, infrastructure, and security teams to improve system reliability and deployment efficiency.
• Troubleshoot complex build systems, deployment failures, and production environment issues.
• Assist with systems engineering activities, including system design, integration, evaluation, and technical documentation.
• Support the identification and resolution of hardware, software, and system configuration deficiencies.
• Participate in Agile development activities and contribute to continuous process improvement.
• Provide

prescheduled after-hours deployment support

as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of relevant hands-on technical experience

in systems engineering, cloud infrastructure, DevSecOps, or related technical environments.

• Experience with

Linux systems engineering

, including system administration, configuration, troubleshooting, design, or evaluation.

• Practical experience with

Amazon Web Services (AWS)

supporting cloud infrastructure, application deployments, or automated DevSecOps pipelines.

• Experience administering or supporting at least one container platform:

Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or AWS EKS

.

• Experience using scripting or automation technologies such as

Python, Bash, Ansible, or Terraform

.

• Familiarity with

Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

concepts and automated infrastructure management.

• Experience working with complex software build systems and automated

CI/CD processes

.

• Knowledge of

Agile methodologies

or the

Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

.

• Strong technical troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with development, infrastructure, and security teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing

back-end software applications

.

• Knowledge of

Java

programming.

• Experience configuring

OpenSearch clusters

and managing index lifecycles.

• Familiarity with security scanning tools, vulnerability identification, and remediation processes.
• Additional experience with

Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

and DevSecOps automation.

• Experience supporting DevSecOps practices within federal or enterprise IT environments.

Work Schedule

• Prescheduled after-hours support may be required for software deployments. These activities may occur on an irregular schedule.
