Join us as a Customer Engineer, Data & Analytics
Premier Cloud - Austin, TX
About the role
As a Customer Engineer for Data & Analytics, you’ll be the trusted technical advisor in our Google Cloud sales motion. You’ll work alongside account executives and Google Cloud teams to understand customers’ data challenges, design solutions on GCP, and show how BigQuery, Looker, and Vertex AI solve them through demos, workshops, and proofs of concept.
You own the technical win, then hand off a clear path to delivery and adoption.
What you’ll do
- Lead technical discovery with customer stakeholders, from data engineers to CDOs, to uncover business goals and data pain points
- Design and present GCP data & analytics architectures, including modern data warehouses, lakehouses, streaming and event-driven pipelines, BI, and ML
- Build and run compelling demos, technical workshops, and proofs of concept that secure the technical win
- Partner with account executives on opportunity strategy, scoping, solution proposals, and SOWs
- Work closely with Google Cloud sales, partner, and customer engineering teams on joint opportunities
- Lead migration conversations from legacy platforms (Teradata, Oracle, Snowflake, Redshift, Hadoop, Tableau/Power BI) to BigQuery and Looker
- Hand off cleanly to delivery teams and support customer success and expansion after the sale
- Deliver enablement sessions that drive customer adoption of BigQuery, Looker, and Vertex AI
- Bring field feedback to the practice and help grow team certifications and partner specializations
Must-have qualifications
- 3–5+ years of hands-on experience with Google Cloud data services, including expert-level BigQuery and working knowledge of Looker, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Dataproc. GCP experience is required; experience on other clouds alone will not qualify.
- Active Google Cloud certification: Professional Data Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect (or ability to earn one within 90 days of hire)
- 2+ years in a customer-facing technical role: presales, solutions engineering, sales engineering, or technical consulting
- Proven ability to run technical discovery, live demos, and POCs, and to present to both technical and executive audiences
- Strong SQL; working knowledge of Python
- Solid understanding of data warehousing, data modeling, ELT/ETL, and streaming architectures
Nice to have
- Experience at a Google Cloud partner or at Google, working with Google sales and partner teams
- Vertex AI / GenAI experience (Gemini, RAG, BigQuery ML)
- Hands-on migration experience from Teradata, Oracle, Snowflake, Redshift, or Hadoop
- LookML and semantic modeling
- Contributed to a Google Cloud partner specialization (Data Analytics, Machine Learning)
- Industry experience in Healthcare, Public Sector, Education, or Retail/CPG

- Collaboration: Direct engagement with Google teams on strategic analytics initiatives.
- Culture: A trust-based environment with flexible remote work options and premium equipment.
