Do you strive to provide your clients with quality plans, exceptional service, and flexible, innovative solutions? Are you looking for a company that not only supports their clients like this, but their internal team too?

As a progressive and rapidly growing business, Prairie Engineers can present you with a wide range of challenging projects across the nation, the ability to work within a highly functional team, and a senior role that you can help define. We take pride in being a continually evolving company that values a fresh approach and non-traditional roles. We're able to move quickly, not stifled by "the way it's always been done."

If this sounds appealing to you, come talk with us! We value a people-focused culture, a can-do attitude, and responsiveness, offering remote, hybrid, and office work environments with competitive salaries and benefits. We will accommodate this position as a full-time or part-time schedule in any of our offices.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead the design of HVAC, chilled/hot water, plumbing and fire protection systems for military, federal, and institutional facilities from concept through construction documents.
  • Perform load calculations, equipment selection and system analysis; prepare specifications and cost estimates.
  • Seal drawings and serve as engineer of record; perform QA/QC on mechanical deliverables.
  • Provide construction administration: RFIs, submittal reviews, site visits, and punch lists.
  • Mentor and direct mechanical designers and junior engineers.
  • Build client relationships and help develop proposals, scopes, and fees.

What You Will Need:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: 8+ years of mechanical design experience in building systems/MEP consulting.
  • Licensure: Current Illinois Professional Engineer license, or ability to obtain Illinois licensure within the first six months of employment. Licensure in multiple states is a plus.
  • Software: Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and load/energy software.

How You Align:

  • People Focused: Professional, respectful, and teamoriented, with a strong work ethic and the ability to collaborate both internally and externally.
  • Can Do Attitude: Positively engages with challenges, facilitates problemsolving, and takes initiative to deliver solutions.
  • Responsive: Communicates openly, proactively, and promptly, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Salary range $105,000 - $145,000 per year, determined by education, experience, licensure, and knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity.
