About this role
About Us
A Spice of Life is a catering company that creates memorable off-premise events for our clients. The 2027 Sundance Film Festival is one of our most visible engagements, and we’re looking for an experienced Event Operations Manager to help us deliver polished, professional service at every venue.
About the Role
As the Off-Premise Event Operations Manager, you’ll work closely with our Director of Operations as their on-site partner, carrying out operational plans across festival venues. You’ll lead front-of-house execution, direct event staff, and keep the client, culinary team, Sales, vendors, and venue partners aligned on schedules, staffing, and service details.
In a fast-moving, high-profile setting, you’ll make sound decisions on the ground and keep the Director informed so every event runs smoothly. This role begins with the Sundance engagement and may lead to a full-time position with A Spice of Life based on business needs and mutual fit.
What You’ll Do
- Partner with the Director of Operations on event planning, priorities, and operational decisions
- Provide regular status updates and promptly escalate issues, risks, and client concerns
- Maintain event timelines, run-of-show documents, and staffing schedules
- Confirm event details, guest counts, menus, dietary needs, and service style with Sales and clients, and communicate changes to all teams
- Coordinate with vendors and venue contacts on schedules, access, and site requirements
- Schedule, brief, and direct front-of-house and event staff, including temporary crews
- Lead site walkthroughs with clients and venue contacts before each event
- Oversee on-site setup, service flow, and breakdown to make sure everything meets client expectations
- Serve as the primary on-site contact for clients and hosts, handling requests and concerns professionally
- Coordinate with the Catering Chef on service timing, station layout, and food flow
- Resolve on-site staffing, vendor, and venue issues, bringing in the Director of Operations as needed
- Ensure compliance with venue rules, alcohol service policies, and safety requirements
- Complete event reports, staff hours, incident notes, and handoff communications
- Participate in post-event reviews and recommend process improvements
What We’re Looking For
- Experience managing off-premise catering, events, or hospitality operations
- Proven ability to lead and direct front-of-house and event staff, including temporary crews
- Strong communication skills and a calm, professional presence with clients and partners
- Excellent organization, with experience managing timelines, run-of-show documents, and staffing schedules
- Ability to make sound decisions quickly when plans change
- Familiarity with alcohol service policies and event safety requirements
- Availability to work during the festival, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends
Benefits
- This is a temporary position and does not include benefits. If the role transitions into a full-time position, it would become eligible for A Spice of Life’s full-time benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance and a 401(k).
