Staff Accountant, Remote (Client Accounting and Year-End Close)

About My CPA Pro, P.C.

We’re a fully remote CPA firm serving business owners with multiple entities: S corporations, partnerships, corporations and real estate holdings. Clients come to us for tax planning, and our accounting team makes that planning possible by getting the books right.

What you’ll do

• Own month-end and year-end close for a portfolio of client entities mostly in QuickBooks Online, and a small part in Xero.
• Reconcile bank, credit card, loan and intercompany accounts, and prepare adjusting entries and accruals
• Build year-end close packages and tax-ready financials that tie to the tax return
• Review bookkeeping work: find errors, correct them and explain the fix
• Support controller-level work: monthly financial packages, cash flow and KPI reporting
• Answer client questions about their books by email and on calls, with a senior’s support
• Document the processes you run so they can be handed off and scaled

What success looks like

• 30 days: running monthly close for your first client group using our checklists
• 90 days: owning close for a full portfolio, with books tax-ready by our internal deadlines
• 12 months: training and reviewing bookkeepers, on track to Senior Accountant

What you bring

• 3+ years of hands-on accounting: full-cycle close, reconciliations, adjusting entries, accruals
• A strong grasp of accounting principles. You know why an entry is right, not just how to post it
• QuickBooks Online (required) and solid Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables)
• Multi-entity experience: intercompany activity, S-corp and partnership equity, fixed assets, debt
• Clear, professional writing
• Experience at a CPA or outsourced accounting firm
• Nice to have: Xero, exposure to 1120-S or 1065 prep, real estate accounting, payroll
• No CPA or EA required. We hire for experience and judgment.

What we offer

• $65,000–$85,000 base depending on experience, plus annual bonus
• Fully remote with flexible start and finish times: start between 7 and 10 a.m. Central, and be online during core hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Central
• Honest schedule: our peak runs January through April, with about 50 hours per week. The rest of the year is a standard 40-hour week.

How we work:

This is a full-time, exclusive role on firm-provided equipment. We measure success by completed work. Every task is either done or has a clear handoff note, and asking for help early is expected.

We track time by client, and outside employment requires written approval.
