Junior Graphic Designer / Office Support

Michigan Imagery is a custom sign company in Lansing. We design, build, and install interior and exterior signage, including wall signs, channel letters, monument signs, ADA signage, and more. If you’ve driven around Lansing, you’ve probably seen our work.

We’re looking for a junior graphic designer who wants to learn the sign business from the ground up. You’ll work closely with leadership and see your designs become finished signs on real buildings.

What the first 6 months look like

We’ll train you on the three things that keep our jobs moving:

• Customer proofs. When a customer wants to buy a sign, you’ll create the proof in Adobe Illustrator so they can see exactly what they’re getting.
• Sign permits. Every sign needs city approval. You’ll prepare and submit permit applications and track them through approval. We’ll teach you the process.
• Receiving materials. You’ll check in and unpack shipments and confirm that orders are complete and correct.
• Job tracking. You’ll keep jobs updated in our project management system from quote to completion, so the whole team knows where every project stands.

Permits and receiving are a core part of this role. They’re also how you learn how signs actually get made, and that knowledge is what makes a strong sign designer.

Where you can grow

Once you’re comfortable with the fundamentals, you’ll move into more complex sign design and production files, and possibly quoting. Sign permits remain part of the role as you grow.

What you need

• Real experience in Adobe Illustrator. You’ll complete a short Illustrator skills test during the interview.
• A portfolio or 3–5 Illustrator work samples
• Comfort working on a Mac
• Strong organization and follow-through
• Clear, professional communication by phone and email
• Ability to learn independently from notes, documentation, and how-to videos

Bonus if you have

• Sign, print, or production design experience
• Experience preparing files for production (cut files, outlined text, layers)

Schedule & pay

• Full-time, on-site in Lansing
• Office hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–4:00 PM
• Flexible scheduling is available as long as your hours are consistent each week (for example, Monday–Thursday, or 8:00 AM–3:00 PM daily)
• $–$/hour, based on experience

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $22.00 - $26.70 per hour
