- Develop clear financial reports and insights to help leadership monitor revenue, expenses, profitability, and financial trends
- Establish and improve internal controls, approval processes, accounting workflows, and documentation standards
- Identify accounting discrepancies, unusual expenses, duplicate payments, and gaps in existing processes
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial strategy in collaboration with firm leadership
- Coordinate with external CPAs, tax advisors, payroll providers, and other financial vendors
- Oversee appropriate accounting for client costs, case expenses, reimbursements, and trust-related transactions, as applicable
- Recommend and implement improvements to accounting systems, reporting tools, and financial procedures as the firm grows
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive financial, employee, vendor, and firm information
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, with experience in an accounting management or financial oversight role
- Experience in a law firm, professional services business, or contingency-fee environment is preferred
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel or Google Sheets, and financial reporting tools
- Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to identify discrepancies and interpret financial data
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage a team and explain financial information clearly to non-accountants
