  • Organize and review client tax documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Enter tax return information into tax preparation software and research tax questions as needed.
  • Assist with tax return workpapers, supporting calculations, and client follow-up for missing information.
  • Identify potential tax issues and bring questions or complex matters to the CPA's attention.
  • Assist with tax planning calculations and projections as experience and responsibilities develop.

Client and Firm Support

  • Communicate professionally with clients to obtain accounting records and tax documentation.
  • Manage multiple client assignments and deadlines, particularly during tax season.
  • Maintain organized workpapers and protect confidential client information.
  • Follow established procedures and contribute to improving accounting and tax workflows.

Required Qualifications

  • Approximately 1–2 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, tax preparation, or a related role.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and the ability to read and interpret financial statements.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer applications.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and communicate effectively in a remote environment.
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical accounting and tax preparation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Experience preparing individual income tax returns and familiarity with business tax returns.
  • Experience using professional tax preparation software.
  • QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification is a plus.
  • CPA license, Enrolled Agent credential, or progress toward professional certification.

An accounting degree, CPA license, and Enrolled Agent credential are not required. Candidates with relevant practical experience and strong accounting fundamentals are encouraged to apply.

Schedule and Benefits

  • Full-time remote position open to candidates located within the United States.
  • General availability between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Central Time, with flexibility in daily scheduling.
  • Annual salary of $50,000–$60,000, with potential for higher compensation based on qualifications and expanded responsibilities.
  • Post busy season bonuses for both Spring and Fall (based on performance)
