About this role
Senior Applied Data Scientist - Computer Vision & Personalization
LookRoom AI | US-Based AI Startup | Equity-Based | Stakeholder Team Opportunity
Help Build the Intelligence Behind LookRoom
At
LookRoom AI
, we're building a fully AI-powered Personal Assistant around one simple principle:
Be As You Are & Free Up Time.
LookRoom understands the individual - their wardrobe, personal preferences, lifestyle, daily context and habits - and progressively automates everyday style-related decisions.
Our mission is not simply to generate outfit suggestions.
It's to build personalized intelligence that reduces decision fatigue and
gives time back to users
.
With our working Pre-MVP completed, we're advancing toward two major milestones:
Market-Ready MVP > US Go-to-Market Readiness
We're looking for an experienced
Senior Applied Data Scientist
to contribute to three of LookRoom's core proprietary technologies:
- LRAC - LookRoom Avatar Creation
- LRTS - LookRoom Try-On Service
- LRSS - LookRoom Suggestion System
This is an opportunity to help shape the intelligence behind a consumer AI product from its earliest stages.
The Role
You'll work directly with our AI/ML engineers, 3D specialists, Backend developers, Product team and founders.
Your mission is to transform complex visual, behavioral and contextual data into reliable, measurable AI capabilities.
We're looking for someone who can move beyond research and experimentation to help develop technologies that work in real consumer environments.
Our objective
Build an intelligent suggestion system that understands not only what clothing combinations are possible, but what makes sense for a particular person, situation and moment.
What You'll
Own
Depending on your expertise and the team's composition, you'll take ownership of:
- Data science experimentation and research
- Dataset preparation and validation
- Feature engineering
- Model selection and evaluation
- Recommendation quality measurement
- Computer vision data analysis
- Experiment tracking and reproducibility
- Data quality standards
- Model performance reporting
- Collaboration on production AI integration
We expect you to help establish measurable standards for how LookRoom evaluates the quality of its AI technologies.
What We're Looking For
- At least 6+ years of relevant experience in Data Science, Applied Machine Learning or closely related fields
- Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms and statistical methods
- Experience sourcing, preparing, cleaning and analyzing complex datasets
- Strong knowledge of model validation and evaluation methodologies
- Familiarity with SQL and data pipelines
- Experience working with cloud-based ML environments
- Ability to collaborate with software engineers on production systems
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent English communication skills
Particularly Valuable Experience
We would be especially interested in candidates with demonstrated experience in one or more of the following:
Computer Vision & Avatar Intelligence
- Image classification and feature extraction
- Image segmentation and visual embeddings
- Human pose or body estimation
- 3D computer vision
- Multimodal AI models
- Visual similarity and retrieval systems
Recommendation & Personalization
- Recommender systems
- Ranking algorithms
- User preference modeling
- Behavioral data analysis
- Context-aware recommendations
- Embeddings and vector search
- Online/offline recommendation evaluation
- A/B testing and experimentation
Experience with fashion technology, virtual try-on, consumer AI or e-commerce personalization would be a significant advantage.
AI-Native Development
LookRoom is an AI-native company.
We expect our specialists to be comfortable using modern AI tools to accelerate research, experimentation, coding and analysis.
Experience with tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot and AI-assisted development environments is valuable.
However, we're looking for scientific and engineering judgment - not simply the ability to generate code.
You should be able to explain your models, validate results, recognize limitations and take responsibility for the quality of your work.
The Kind of Person We're Looking For
You'll be a strong fit if you:
- Enjoy turning research into practical product capabilities
- Can work independently in an early-stage startup
- Think in terms of measurable outcomes
- Understand the difference between promising experiments and production-ready solutions
- Can collaborate across Data Science, Engineering, Product and Design
- Challenge assumptions using evidence
- Work comfortably with uncertainty and evolving requirements
- Value speed without compromising scientific rigor
- Want to contribute to technologies with global consumer potential
Cooperation, Work Model & CompensationCurrent MVP Development Stage - Equity-Based | Part-Time | Hybrid
We're offering an
equity-based stakeholder-stage cooperation opportunity.
The initial collaboration is planned around a part-time, hybrid work model.
We're looking for someone who believes in LookRoom's long-term vision and wants meaningful ownership in the value we're building.
Post-MVP / Go-to-Market Stage - Salary + Equity | Full-Time | On-Site
As LookRoom advances toward its US market entry, we intend to transition this role into a full-time, on-site position with salary and equity, subject to agreed milestones and company readiness.
Specific compensation, equity participation and transition terms will be discussed individually.
Why Join LookRoom Now?
Because this is the stage where the scientific and technical foundations of our AI technologies are being shaped.
You'll have the opportunity to contribute directly to:
- Personalized avatar intelligence
- Personalized try-on service development
- Recommendation and decision-making systems
- Data science architecture and evaluation standards
- AI experimentation and learning processes
- The development of a globally scalable consumer AI product
You won't simply analyze existing business data.
You'll help create the intelligence that makes LookRoom personal.
