About this role
Jones Foster is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice Group in West Palm Beach. This is an opportunity to take on substantive responsibility early, work directly with experienced trial lawyers, and build a litigation practice representing individuals and businesses in high-stakes commercial disputes in Florida’s state and federal courts.
About the Role
As an Associate in our Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution group, you will help guide clients through every stage of complex commercial disputes — from intake through trial and resolution. Our matters include contract disputes, business torts, employment, real property, municipal matters, and complex class actions, resolved through litigation, arbitration, mediation, and administrative proceedings.
You will work alongside a collaborative team that invests in the professional growth of its attorneys and offers meaningful, hands-on courtroom experience and client responsibility.
What You’ll Do
- Handle all aspects of complex commercial litigation, including pleadings, legal research, written and electronic discovery, taking and defending depositions, motion practice, mediations, evidentiary and non-evidentiary hearings, and trials.
- Develop and execute litigation strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys to achieve client goals.
- Manage matters from inception through resolution, both independently and as part of a team.
- Draft and assist with drafting the highest quality legal documents, including pleadings, dispositive and pre-trial motions, legal memoranda, and briefs, mediation statements, and correspondence.
- Prepare and respond to written discovery and manage electronic discovery.
- Prepare clients, witnesses, and experts for testimony, and present cases in state and federal courts either as first or second chair.
- Communicate directly with clients and keep them informed throughout the litigation process.
- Mentor and supervise paralegals and legal assistants.
What We’re Looking For
- A J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and an outstanding academic record.
- Admission to and good standing in The Florida Bar with no disciplinary history.
- Four to seven years of experience in all aspects of commercial litigation including drafting all litigation related documents, hearings, depositions, written and electronic discovery, and alternative dispute resolution.
- Experience handling matters independently or with minimal supervision.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication, research, and analytical skills.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with electronic discovery platforms, the Microsoft Office Suite, and Westlaw Advantage and Co-Counsel; experience with iManage is a plus.
- A self-starter who is organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- A team minded individual.
- Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to maintain client confidentiality.
- Primarily onsite presence, not primarily remote.
