Data Scientist

Data Scientist | 6 months Contract to Hire | On-Site | 4 days a week | Houston, Texas *Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. *Must be able to work 4 days a week on site Houston, Texas I’m working with a leading Energy/Oil & Gas company that is looking for a Data Scientist to join their team on a 6 month contract to hire basis in Houston Texas.

The role will focus on using data science, statistical modelling and machine learning to solve real-world operational and business problems, working with complex datasets and developing predictive models.

What you'll be doing

• Developing and implementing machine learning and statistical models to solve business and operational challenges.
• Working with time-series data to identify patterns, trends and generate predictive insights.
• Applying machine learning techniques, including boosting algorithms and neural networks .
• Writing high-quality Python code to develop, test and optimise data science models.
• Working within an Azure-based technology stack , with Microsoft Fabric experience preferred.
• Collaborating with data engineers and wider technical teams to support data science and AI/ML initiatives.

What we're looking for

• At least 5 years of experience in Data Science .
• Strong hands-on Python programming skills.
• Hands-on experience with XGBoost and other boosting algorithms, alongside neural networks and machine learning models.
• Experience working with time-series data .
• Experience with the Azure technology stack is required.
• Microsoft Fabric experience is preferred.
• Previous Oil & Gas or Energy industry experience is preferred.
