About this role
About InstaPermit
InstaPermit makes permitting easier for contractors, starting with solar, electrical, and roofing. Our platform files and tracks permits across thousands of U.S. jurisdictions, reducing recurring manual work. We work with CRM providers and other software partners to meet contractors where they already get their work done.
We’re a small, experienced team using AI and automation to solve practical problems in construction.
Job Summary
We’re seeking an organized, curious Product Manager to help turn customer needs and company priorities into clear, actionable work. This hands-on role blends product management and project management: you’ll work with engineering and stakeholders to define requirements, test features, and keep delivery moving, while also coordinating work during pilots with software partners.
Over time, we expect the role to focus increasingly on product management, with project management skills remaining valuable during partner pilots and other key initiatives. You’ll enjoy solving problems, learning quickly, and using AI tools to work more effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather feedback: Collect input from customers and internal stakeholders, identify patterns, and surface opportunities to improve the product.
- Define requirements: Translate product ideas and customer needs into clear requirements, user stories, and actionable tasks.
- Collaborate with engineering: Work closely with engineers to clarify requirements, answer questions, and coordinate delivery.
- Test and improve: Test new features, identify issues, and follow through to ensure they are resolved.
- Coordinate projects and partner pilots: Organize timelines and priorities, coordinate with internal teams and software partners, track progress and blockers, and follow up on outstanding items to keep pilots and product work moving.
- Communicate progress: Share clear updates on priorities, progress, decisions, and blockers with the team.
- Use AI to accelerate high-quality work: Use AI tools throughout your daily workflow to research, learn, synthesize information, draft requirements, and solve problems. Connect AI to the tools and information you already use to streamline work, and review outputs for accuracy and quality.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in product management, product operations, project management, or a related role.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on details.
- Experience working with engineers or other cross-functional teammates to define and deliver work.
- Ability to translate ideas and customer needs into clear written requirements and actionable tasks.
- Hands-on experience using AI tools regularly in your work, including connecting AI to existing tools and information sources to move quickly while producing accurate, high-quality work.
- You should be able to share examples of how you’ve used AI to improve your workflow.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and a practical approach to problem-solving.
- Curiosity and resourcefulness, with the ability to investigate questions independently and work with limited direction.
