About this role
Location
Kirkland, WA (HQ) — remote-first, hybrid · Type: Full-time Compensation: $180,000–$240,000 base salary · 10–20% target bonus · founding equity grant, 4-year vest About Hussh Hussh's mission: make information — especially private personal information — a real financial asset for the human it belongs to, with the human in control.
The technology company builds private personal AI (Private Agent One, iMoney, the puppy home supercomputer); the asset manager runs permanent capital on the world's fastest growers of absolute free cash flow. Our privacy-law campaign runs on evidence.
The data behind it — the campaign experimentation scoreboard, the policy data programs, the analysis that goes in front of lawmakers and regulators — is built by Anoushka Gehani, our Founding Public Policy Data Scientist: a founding talent carrying a senior-sized mandate, early in a journey we intend to be long. She doesn't need a manager. She needs senior craft around her.
That's this role. Hussh is 100% privately owned and profitable — founder-funded, no outside investors — and we hire the best and pay the best.
The seat sits inside the biggest bet we know how to make: AI, personal superintelligence for everybody, on the best supercomputers we can build — and every number you defend has to create real value for the human it describes, because that value, delivered honestly, is what becomes equity for everyone who works with us, invests with us, or does business with us.
The role
Mission: the senior craft layer of the data function — build the evidence engine, and make the people around you stronger.
You are hired as a multiplier, not a manager: one of the first 1–2 senior data scientists / data engineers forming the senior layer of our data function. Your primary customer is the evidence engine behind the policy fight; your reach is the whole company — product analytics, growth data, fund data hygiene — served on a real service basis, not favors.
What you'll do
- Build and harden the data engineering backbone: pipelines, experiment tracking, campaign data infrastructure — documented, tested, reproducible. Built to last, not to demo.
- Red-pen every analysis that leaves the company. Nothing reaches a lawmaker, a regulator, or an allocator that a senior hasn't reviewed. No exceptions, no drama.
- Mentor as a first-class output: pair reviews, methodology coaching, pipelines written so well a junior can own them in six months — then hand them over. Your metric is a founding data scientist demonstrably stronger every quarter.
- Guard the firewall in both directions: when the data doesn't support the position, you say so — loudly. The evidence program's credibility is the asset; you are its custodian.
- Serve the company's wider data needs on agreed service levels: the product team's analytics, the growth team's experiments, the funds' data hygiene.
What success looks like in 6 months
- The campaign and policy data pipelines run to a standard a senior would defend in public — and Anoushka's analyses are visibly sharper for your partnership.
- One data review gate exists and holds: every external analysis passes a senior's red pen.
- The evidence engine runs on a cadence the policy team can plan against: data in, verified analysis out.
- The company's data needs have one address — yours — with service levels instead of favors.
What you bring — musts
- Senior-level data science or data engineering with real scale behind you: pipelines serving millions, experiments at statistical seriousness, or ML systems in production.
- You have mentored a junior into a mid-level or senior — and can tell us the story. Mentorship is the job, not a nice-to-have.
- Statistical honesty under pressure. Advocacy environments test this; you have passed the test before.
- You build for handoff: documentation, tests, reproducibility — the opposite of a hero dependency.
Nice to have
- Experimentation-platform or campaign-analytics experience.
- Policy, civic-tech, or research-institution data work — evidence built for skeptical external readers.
- The founding dynamic instinct: you respect domain context and campaign instincts in a younger founder, and your seniority in craft never becomes seniority in the room.
What we offer
$180,000–$240,000 base, a 10–20% target bonus, and a founding equity grant on a 4-year vest. A small, senior team by design — leverage, not headcount — where your craft compounds into a founder's growth and a campaign's credibility, at a company whose entire thesis is that information belongs to the human it describes.
