Senior DevOps/DevSecOps Engineer | AWS, SOC 2 & Cloud Infrastructure

Location:

Atlanta, GA

Work Arrangement:

Hybrid

Full-time

Ideal Starting Range:

$135,000-$145,000

The final salary or hourly wage, as applicable, paid to each candidate/applicant for this position is ultimately dependent on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s/applicant’s qualifications, skills, and level of experience as well as the geographical location of the position.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Sponsorship not available.

About the Opportunity

We’re partnering with a growing technology organization in Atlanta that is looking for a

Senior DevSecOps Engineer

to take hands-on ownership of its cloud infrastructure, automation, security, and compliance environment.

They’re looking for a

hands-on DevOps engineer who understands compliance

, someone who wants to build, automate, and own the environment rather than primarily manage an existing one.

This role combines strong

AWS, Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, and CI/CD expertise

with practical experience around

SOC 2 compliance, Vanta, audit readiness, and disaster recovery/business continuity

.

You’ll join an agile environment where you’ll have significant ownership and the opportunity to directly influence how infrastructure, security, compliance, and deployment practices evolve as the organization scales.

Key Priorities

During your first year, you’ll focus heavily on three areas:

  • Own Infrastructure as Code and the deployment pipeline:

Continue moving infrastructure into code, mature CI/CD processes, implement zero-downtime deployments, and ensure releases are clean, repeatable, and traceable.

  • Strengthen audit and compliance readiness:

Automate compliance evidence collection and maintain the technical controls needed to support SOC 2 audits, customers, auditors, and other external stakeholders.

  • Improve identity, data, and AI governance:

Strengthen SSO and access controls, maintain appropriate client data isolation, and establish reliable change controls around AI model and application updates.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Own and evolve cloud infrastructure across

AWS

, including EC2, EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, IAM, Cognito, CloudWatch, and related services.

  • Lead the technical side of the organization's

SOC 2 compliance program

, including evidence collection, control implementation, audit preparation, remediation, access controls, audit logging, and change management.

  • Serve as a key technical resource supporting

audit readiness and external auditor requests

.

  • Own and maintain compliance activities within

Vanta

, including automated evidence collection, control monitoring, policy management, and audit reporting.

  • Build and maintain

Infrastructure as Code

using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar technologies.

  • Develop and improve

CI/CD pipelines

, deployment automation, and zero-downtime deployment practices.

  • Design, build, document, and test

Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans

, including backup strategies, RTO/RPO targets, and failover architecture.

  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting to improve visibility into infrastructure health, security, performance, and compliance.
  • Establish and strengthen cloud security practices across IAM, secrets management, network segmentation, encryption, and data access.
  • Partner closely with engineering and product teams to troubleshoot production issues, improve operational maturity, and reduce manual processes.
  • Document runbooks, incident response procedures, and compliance processes while helping lead DR/BCP tabletop exercises.
  • Help establish strong governance and change controls as the organization expands its use of AI-enabled technologies.
  • Mentor other engineers around operational excellence, cloud security, compliance, and DevSecOps best practices.

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years

of professional experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, SRE, cloud infrastructure, or a related engineering discipline.

  • Deep, hands-on

AWS

experience within production environments.

  • Direct experience supporting

SOC 2 Type I and/or Type II audits

, including control implementation, evidence collection, remediation, and auditor coordination.

  • Experience

owning or leading SOC 2 initiatives

, rather than simply participating within an established program.

  • Hands-on experience with

Vanta

.

  • Strong experience with

Terraform, CloudFormation, or other Infrastructure as Code technologies

.

  • Hands-on experience with

Kubernetes/EKS

and containerized environments.

  • Experience building and maintaining modern

CI/CD pipelines

.

  • Experience designing or implementing

Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity

strategies, including defined RTO/RPO objectives.

  • Automation and scripting experience with

Python, Bash, or similar languages

.

  • Understanding of cloud security practices involving IAM, secrets management, encryption, network segmentation, and compliance controls.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana.
  • Experience collaborating closely with software engineering teams in an Agile environment.
  • Ability to operate as a

hands-on technical owner and builder

, rather than solely managing infrastructure or compliance programs.

Nice to Have

  • Experience leading an organization through the final stages of

SOC 2 audit readiness and evidence collection

.

  • Experience acting as the primary technical point of contact for external auditors.
  • Experience supporting

AI/LLM infrastructure

, AWS Bedrock, vector databases, or AI-powered applications.

  • AWS Security, CISSP, CISM, or related security certifications.
  • Experience working with GIS or geospatial data.
  • Previous technical leadership or mentoring experience.

Why This Role?

This is a strong opportunity for an engineer who wants

real ownership and the ability to make an impact

, rather than simply maintaining an established environment.

  • Own what you build:

Take direct ownership of cloud infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code, deployment pipelines, and the processes surrounding them.

  • Build and improve, not just maintain:

Help mature automation, CI/CD, zero-downtime deployments, monitoring, security, and operational practices.

  • Combine DevOps with security and compliance:

Apply your engineering background to SOC 2, audit readiness, Vanta, identity and access controls, and compliance automation without moving into a traditional GRC role.

  • Have meaningful technical influence:

Your work will directly impact how the organization approaches infrastructure, security, compliance, reliability, and disaster recovery as it grows.

  • Work across a broad technical environment:

Gain exposure across AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, identity, data governance, and emerging AI infrastructure.

  • Help shape the environment:

Establish stronger standards, automation, and processes rather than simply inheriting a fully mature DevOps platform.

Ultimately, this role is best suited for a

strong DevOps/DevSecOps builder with practical compliance experience

. You should be equally comfortable building in

AWS and Terraform

and supporting a

SOC 2 audit or Vanta evidence process

.
