About this role
About Flamingo Marine
Flamingo Marine designs and builds premium pontoon boats at our 233,000-square-foot factory in Richfield, Wisconsin, and sells them through a network of independent dealers across the U.S. We started series production in 2026 and are scaling quickly. The finance team is small and hands-on: you will see the impact of your work on every boat that leaves the plant.
We use Plex (ERP), Ramp, BambooHR and Google Workspace. Job Description You will run accounting for a growing boat manufacturer and be the company's expert on cost and inventory. You'll own the monthly close from start to finish, make sure our standard costs and inventory valuation are right, and give leadership, lenders and investors numbers they can rely on.
You'll work on the plant floor as much as at your desk, and you'll lead a small team. There is a clear path to Controller.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the monthend close calendar and deliver accurate monthly financial statements within 10 business days.
- Run the inventory close in the ERP: cost recalculation, receipts, inventory valuation and revaluation, and reconciliation of the GL to the subledger.
- Own cost accounting: maintain standard costs and bills of material costing, and analyze purchase price variance, labor and overhead absorption, and manufacturing variances.
- Prepare accruals and journal entries, including purchase rebates, freight, interest, bonus and lease accounting (ASC 842).
- Review all balance sheet reconciliations: cash, AR, AP, prepaids, credit cards, debt and equity.
- Prepare monthly lender financial packages and quarterly reports for our lenders and economic development partners.
- Own revenue and dealer invoicing review, including dealer discounts, floor plan programs and warranty reserves.
- Coordinate the annual audit and tax work with our outside CPA firm: schedules, support and auditor questions.
- Review payroll and post it to the GL.
- Own accounting controls: segregation of duties, approval workflows, the vendor master and a "No PO, No Pay" policy.
- Lead, train and review the work of the AP/AR Specialist.
- Build monthly analysis for the CFO and leadership: margin per boat, overhead and labor variances, and inventory trends.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- 710 years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years of cost accounting in a manufacturing environment with standard costing.
- Handson experience running a full monthend close and preparing GAAP financial statements.
- Strong ERP skills.
- Plex experience is a plus; experience with Epicor, Infor, SAP, NetSuite or similar manufacturing ERPs also fits.
- Experience with audits, lender reporting or covenant compliance.
- Advanced Excel.
- Comfortable in a fastmoving, growing company: you fix processes, not just report on them.
- Clear communicator with operations, supply chain and leadership.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Public accounting experience; marine, RV or vehicle manufacturing experience; floor plan or dealer financing exposure; ASC 842 lease accounting.
- TOTAL REWARDS Competitive pay and benefits A clean, safe, and modern production environment 401k retirement plan Paid time off and holidays Leadership opportunities in a growing company with longterm vision A culture that values craftsmanship, innovation, and teamwork Flamingo Marine is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
- All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other status protected by federal, state, or local law.
