About this role

Senior Electrical Engineer, SATCOM Location: Westminster, Colorado Working arrangement: Full-time, on-site Industry: Aerospace, Defence & Advanced Communications US Citizens or Green Card Holders only The Opportunity EVONA is partnering with an innovative aerospace and defence technology company developing next-generation satellite communications (SATCOM) systems for demanding airborne and ground-based applications.

We're looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to design and develop complex electronic hardware, taking ownership of circuit boards from initial design through testing, qualification and production. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving challenging technical problems, working with advanced digital and mixed-signal electronics, and seeing their designs progress into real-world applications.

You'll join a collaborative engineering team developing high-performance communications hardware for some of the most demanding operating environments.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design and develop complex digital, mixed-signal and power electronic circuit boards for advanced SATCOM systems.
  • Take ownership of board-level hardware development, from component selection and schematic capture through PCB layout, bring-up, validation and production.
  • Design electronic hardware incorporating FPGAs, processors, memory, ADCs, DACs and associated interfaces.
  • Work closely with PCB layout engineers to develop multilayer and high-density interconnect (HDI) designs.
  • Support high-speed digital design, including signal integrity, power integrity, clocking and power distribution considerations.
  • Perform circuit analysis, simulation, debugging and troubleshooting to ensure robust hardware performance.
  • Develop and execute hardware verification and validation activities.
  • Support environmental qualification, EMI/EMC testing and the transition of designs into production.
  • Collaborate with firmware, RF, systems, mechanical and manufacturing engineering teams.
  • Participate in technical design reviews and provide guidance to less experienced engineers.

What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline. 5+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience, ideally within aerospace, defence or another high-reliability industry. Strong hands-on experience designing electronic circuit boards, including schematic development, component selection, hardware bring-up and testing.

Experience taking complex PCB designs through development and into production. Background in digital, mixed-signal or power electronics design. Familiarity with FPGA-based hardware, high-speed interfaces, memory devices and supporting circuitry.

Understanding of signal integrity, power integrity and multilayer PCB design principles. Experience with circuit analysis, simulation and hardware verification. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work effectively across engineering disciplines.

Particularly Interesting Experience We'd be especially interested in hearing from engineers with experience in: Aerospace, avionics or defence electronics. High-speed digital PCB design and HDI layouts. FPGA integration, DDR memory and high-speed serial interfaces.

Worst-case circuit analysis (WCCA). EMI/EMC testing and environmental qualification. Power conversion, point-of-load regulators and power distribution.

Taking electronic hardware from initial concept through qualification and production. You don't need to have worked specifically in SATCOM. Strong board-level design experience in aerospace, avionics, RF or power electronics could also be highly relevant.

Why Consider This Opportunity? Work on advanced communications technology supporting aerospace and defence applications. Take ownership of technically challenging electronic hardware.

Join a collaborative team of engineers working across digital, mixed-signal, RF and power electronics. Contribute to the full hardware development lifecycle, from initial design through production. Opportunities for technical development, mentorship and progression.

Interested? If you're an experienced electrical engineer who enjoys designing complex electronic hardware and wants to contribute to the next generation of SATCOM technology, we'd love to hear from you. Apply directly or contact Ciara Holmes at EVONA for a confidential conversation.
