Software Engineer II

Summary:

Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated, technically proficient Software Engineer II who thrives in a fast-paced development environment and embraces modern AI-powered development tools.

The ideal candidate is a resourceful, results-oriented software engineer who can rapidly translate requirements into functional software solutions. This position requires strong hands-on development skills, the ability to work independently, and demonstrated proficiency using artificial intelligence (AI) coding assistants to accelerate software design, development, testing, debugging, and delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain web-based and enterprise software applications.
• Rapidly translate business requirements into functional applications, prototypes, and production-ready solutions.
• Actively leverage AI-powered coding assistants to accelerate development, improve productivity, troubleshoot issues, and streamline repetitive development tasks.
• Use AI tools effectively throughout the software development lifecycle, including code generation, refactoring, debugging, documentation, and testing.
• Independently manage development assignments, prioritize tasks, and deliver results within aggressive project timelines.
• Develop and maintain front-end and back-end application components, databases, APIs, and system integrations.
• Evaluate AI-generated code for accuracy, security, performance, and maintainability before implementation.
• Collaborate directly with stakeholders to understand requirements, recommend solutions, and quickly incorporate feedback.
• Identify opportunities to automate workflows, simplify processes, and improve development efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues with a strong emphasis on timely resolution.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment, and ongoing application support.
• Continuously evaluate emerging development technologies and AI tools to improve team capabilities and delivery speed.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical or analytical discipline.
• Minimum of five (5) years of professional software development experience, including experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining software applications.
• Experience working across multiple phases of the software development lifecycle, with demonstrated ability to independently develop and deliver software solutions.
• Demonstrated experience leveraging AI-powered coding assistants to accelerate software development, improve productivity, and support efficient delivery of high-quality applications.
• Relevant professional experience designing, developing, and maintaining software applications.
• Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages and application development frameworks.
• Experience developing web applications, including front-end and back-end components.
• Working knowledge of relational databases, APIs, and application integration.
• Experience with version control, debugging, testing, and software deployment practices.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming, software architecture, and software development best practices.
• Demonstrated proficiency using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor, or comparable tools to improve software development productivity.
• Ability to write effective instructions and prompts for AI development tools, evaluate generated solutions, and integrate AI-assisted code into functional applications.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot and validate AI-generated code rather than relying on AI output without technical review.
• Understanding of secure software development practices, including appropriate handling of proprietary information and sensitive data when using AI tools.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently while maintaining high standards for software quality and reliability.
• Demonstrated ability to independently move projects from requirements to working solutions with minimal supervision.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements, priorities, and technologies.
• Willingness to experiment with new development approaches and continuously improve personal productivity.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with full-stack application development.
• Familiarity with Microsoft .NET, C#, or similar back-end development technologies.
• Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, React, or comparable front-end frameworks.
• Experience with SQL Server or other relational database platforms.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and enterprise application integration.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Experience developing internal business applications, workflow automation solutions, or enterprise management systems.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools for complex, multi-file coding tasks, application prototyping, or software modernization.

Pay Range

The pay range for this role is $90,000 to $100,000 annually. This is a reasonable estimate for this role. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
