About this role

The Impact You'll Make

--------------------------

Are you a Senior Software Engineer with experience in embedded Linux systems development? We are looking for an experienced professional to join our international R&D team. Your primary mission will be to develop one of our most successful products, an edge controller that connects and manages embedded systems in food retail applications.

The Development team is part of the Commercial Compressor Electronics group within Danfoss Climate Solutions - a leading supplier to the refrigeration and air conditioning industries. We develop and produce sustainable and quality solutions for people around the world and have a positive impact on global change.

You will be part of a diverse, multi-cultural and multi-national team with an open mindset where communication is transparent and feedback is encouraged.

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy working on high-complexity embedded systems. You will be a key driver for the evolution of our System Manager Edge controller, codriving architectural choices, new features developments and software restructuring to elevate our solution to new standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

------------------------

Your primary responsibilities will include daily tasks such as designing, maintaining, and improving sub-systems and modules, and implementing them using C/C++. You will also work with Python for automated testing.

You will cooperate closely with your colleagues from other DevOps teams, ensuring that applications and/or systems meet customer requirements using open standards.

More specifically, you will:

  • Collaborate with technical lead on architectural choices.
  • Design, code, and integrate software for embedded Linux targets, including developing systems based on ARM MPU/MCU multi-core architectures and interacting with the Linux kernel and Yocto framework.
  • Improve and maintain existing software components and ensure the software is up to date with the latest technologies.
  • Participate in peer reviews to ensure a high level of quality in the products.
  • Collaborate with external partners, including consultants, customers, and IT departments.
  • Be involved in platform-based development for synergy with other products and ensure product security.

What We're Looking For

--------------------------

  • Educational Background in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
  • Over 6 years of experience in similar roles, gained in medium-sized multinational environments.
  • More than 3 years of experience with software running on Linux, including deep knowledge of embedded Linux, secure bootloaders, and multi-processor/multi-core systems.
  • Experience in architecture of SCADA/BMS systems.
  • Excellent proficiency in coding with C/C++.
  • Hands-on experience in developing, reviewing, and debugging libraries, and communication drivers (e.g., MQTT, Wi-Fi, Modbus RTU/IP. BACNet).
  • Familiarity with small-scale embedded graphical libraries (e.g. LVGL, Qt for embedded, emWin)
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, resilient, and secure products.
  • Experience in collaborating with external design houses and working in a multicultural environment.
  • Excellent proficiency in English, both verbal and written; knowledge of Danish and/or Italian is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, a positive attitude towards cross-border and cross-cultural cooperation, and clear, concise communication of technical and business matters complete the profile.

What You'll Get from Us

---------------------------

  • We promote from within and support your learning with mentoring, training, and access to global opportunities.
  • You’ll have flexibility, autonomy, and support to do your best work while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Your well-being matters to us.

We strive to create an inclusive work environment where people of all backgrounds are respected, and valued for who they are.
