Senior/Principal PBX & Unified Communications Infrastructure Engineer

Duties

• Lead the architecture, deployment, and ongoing management of PBX (Private Branch Exchange) systems and unified communications platforms, ensuring high availability and scalability.
• Design and implement robust network infrastructure solutions supporting VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), VPNs (Virtual Private Networks), and cloud-based communication services such as AWS, Azure, or other cloud providers.
• Develop automation scripts using Python, Bash, Shell Scripting, and other tools to streamline system provisioning, configuration management, and troubleshooting processes.
• Manage virtualization environments utilizing VMware, server virtualization technologies, and containerization to optimize resource utilization across distributed systems.
• Monitor system health using IT monitoring tools; troubleshoot complex issues related to operating systems (Linux, Windows), network infrastructure, APIs, and server administration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams employing Agile methodologies to ensure smooth system development lifecycle (SDLC) processes for communication infrastructure projects.
• Support engineering troubleshooting efforts by diagnosing technical issues related to system design, virtualization, networking, or software integrations involving Java, SQL databases (Oracle/SQL Server), and APIs.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and incident reports; contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in IT infrastructure engineering.

Experience

• Proven experience designing and managing enterprise-level PBX systems and unified communications solutions in a complex environment.
• Extensive background working with VMware virtualization platforms; strong understanding of server administration across Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure services such as AWS or Azure; familiarity with DevOps practices including automation frameworks.
• Proficiency in scripting languages including Python, Bash (Unix shell), Shell Scripting; ability to develop automation workflows for IT infrastructure tasks.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems architecture; expertise in network infrastructure components like VPNs, firewalls, switches, routers, and security protocols.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across system design issues involving UNIX/Linux operating systems, virtualization platforms, APIs, and enterprise applications like Oracle databases or Java-based services.
• Knowledge of IT monitoring tools for proactive system health checks; experience supporting technical troubleshooting support for complex communication networks.
• Educational background in computer science or related fields; professional certifications in VMware, Cisco networking, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), or ITIL are highly desirable.

Pay: $97,300.00 - $118,000.00 per year
