About Us
Brean Capital, LLC is a leading independent investment bank with over 50 years of experience providing high-quality capital markets, corporate finance, and advisory services to institutional investors and corporate clients. We combine entrepreneurial energy with institutional scale, offering an environment where technology professionals directly impact our core financial operations.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our technology team in New York City on a hybrid schedule (3 days in-office, 2 days remote).
This position is ideal for a highly skilled backend engineer with expert-level knowledge of C#, .NET Core, and Entity Framework, along with a strong foundation in relational database design and software architecture.
You will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing the applications and services that support our investment banking operations. We are looking for an engineer who can independently solve complex technical challenges, make sound architectural decisions, and take ownership of critical systems from design through production.
While experience with front-end technologies is beneficial, our primary focus is finding an exceptional .NET backend engineer with deep technical expertise and strong problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities
· Software Development & Architecture: Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable applications and services using C# and modern .NET technologies.
· Systems Integration: Design and implement reliable integrations between internal applications, financial platforms, third-party services, and external data sources.
· Technical Ownership: Lead technical design decisions, evaluate implementation approaches, and take ownership of applications and services throughout their lifecycle.
· Technical Mentorship: Provide guidance to other developers, share technical expertise, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the engineering team.
Qualifications & Skills
· Expert-Level C# / .NET: 7+ years of professional software development experience, with extensive hands-on expertise in C#, .NET Core, and ASP.NET Core. Deep understanding of object-oriented design, dependency injection, asynchronous programming, application architecture, and the .NET runtime.
· Advanced Entity Framework: Extensive experience with Entity Framework Core, including LINQ, relationship mapping, change tracking, migrations, query performance, and efficient data access patterns.
· Database Architecture: Strong proficiency in relational databases, ideally SQL Server, including schema modeling, normalization, indexing strategies, stored procedures, and query optimization.
· Software Design & Architecture: Demonstrated ability to design and implement complex backend systems using sound architectural principles, design patterns, and maintainable coding practices.
· Systems Integration: Experience developing APIs, background services, automated processes, and integrations between enterprise systems.
· Ownership & Collaboration: Ability to work independently, make well-reasoned technical decisions, and collaborate effectively with developers, business stakeholders, and other technology teams.
· Industry Experience: Financial services or investment banking exposure is a plus but not required. We welcome talented engineers from all industry backgrounds.
Nice-to-Have Skills
· Front-End Development: Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, ASP.NET MVC, or DevExpress components.
· Artificial Intelligence / LLMs: Experience working with locally hosted or on-premises large language models (LLMs), including deployment, integration, or development of AI-powered applications.
· Mobile Development: Experience building mobile applications using React Native.
What We Offer

· Hybrid work schedule providing 2 days of remote flexibility per week.
· Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance benefits.
· 401(k) retirement planning options.
· Located in a premier Midtown Manhattan office with easy transit access.
