About this role
The Opportunity
At a certain point, experience-based system design can start to look like clairvoyance. When you’ve developed so many systems that you can not only orchestrate the best solution for any technology-based challenge, but you can also anticipate and preempt future issues, you’re a solutions architect.
You’ve evolved your skills into strategy through a long path of software development accomplishments and the curiosity to understand how all of the pieces of an IT ecosystem fit together. Are you ready to use your combination of knowledge, skill, and experience to take on the toughest challenges in the Maritime Ground Market?
As a Solutions Architect on our team, you'll translate your customer’s IT needs and future goals into a plan by crafting architecture designs and integrated solutions to address government mission requirements. With your guidance, we’ll help transform the way DoW uses technology including cloud migration, integrating advanced technology, and modernizing legacy systems.
And, what do you do next in a career where you’ve reached this level? You mentor the next set of developers to help them grow into tomorrow’s solutions architects.
Work with us and build the future of technology in the Maritime domain for the better.
Join us. The world can’t wait.
You Have:
- 8+ years of experience with systems engineering in enterprise network architecture, including routing, segmentation, connectivity, security, and hybrid-cloud environments, distributed systems design, scalability, resiliency, performance, and high availability
- 5+ years of experience translating business and technical requirements into detailed solution architectures, technical specifications, and implementation roadmaps
- Experience with low-level infrastructure technologies, including VMware ESXi/vCenter hypervisors, hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI), software-defined networking (SDN), SD-WAN, Kubernetes (K8s), container orchestration, enterprise compute, storage, virtualization, and cloud platforms
- Experience analyzing legacy network architectures and developing phased technical modernization roadmaps that align infrastructure capabilities with evolving mission requirements
- Experience translating legacy network modernization challenges into mission-aligned business development opportunities and customer-focused solution strategies
- Ability to analyze low-level technical details while maintaining alignment with broader platform and enterprise architecture strategies
- Ability to design and implement complex system integrations across APIs, middleware, data platforms, and third-party services
- Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a STEM field or 5+ years of experience in a technical engineering field in the military in lieu of a degree
Nice If You Have:
- Experience developing technical roadmaps that support government acquisition priorities, funding cycles, and future requirements planning (FRP)
- Experience mapping proposed architectures to government security, interoperability, compliance, and performance requirements
- Ability to identify capability gaps, integration risks, and investment priorities that can inform government partnerships, contract vehicles, and long-term growth strategies
- Ability to collaborate with government stakeholders, industry partners, and engineering teams to shape requirements and position modernization solutions for future procurements.
