About this role
Graphic Designer, E-Commerce & Marketing
Ashland, Oregon | In office four days per week, one remote
The Mission
On a product page, in a retail display, or across a digital campaign, design has seconds to make a product easy to understand and worth a closer look. This role turns product photography, supplied copy, and creative direction into visuals that communicate clearly, accurately, and with purpose.
As Graphic Designer, E-Commerce & Marketing, you'll create Amazon listing imagery and marketing assets across digital and print. You'll work under the direction of an Art Director while owning assigned projects from brief through final delivery. Strong performance here is not just making attractive layouts - it is making deliberate choices about audience, placement, hierarchy, legibility, and product truth.
Do you naturally ask what the customer needs to understand before deciding how something should look?
If you do, and you combine strong visual fundamentals with exceptional Photoshop craft and disciplined execution, we'd like to see your work.
What You'll Do
- Make the product story clear. Create Amazon listing images that make product features, benefits, and play experiences easy to understand at a glance.
- Build work that travels across channels. Design social assets, website graphics, digital ads, print ads, in-store graphics, retail displays, tradeshow banners, and related marketing materials.
- Composite with realism and control. Use product photography, lifestyle imagery, and approved assets to build believable composites with careful masking, color, lighting, shadows, perspective, and product accuracy.
- Design for the real viewing context. Adapt concepts for screen, print, retail, and large-format use while accounting for viewing distance, scale, readability, and production requirements.
- Own the handoff. Carry assigned projects from brief to final delivery, clarify missing inputs, communicate progress, and flag timeline or dependency risks early.
- Protect the standard. Apply brand guidelines, incorporate feedback thoughtfully, proof work for accuracy, maintain organized editable files, and prepare clean production-ready assets.
What You Bring
- You think beyond decoration. You want to understand who the audience is, where the work will appear, and what the viewer needs to notice first. You make thoughtful recommendations, but you also know when to ask for clarification and when to work within established creative direction.
- You are organized enough to manage multiple projects without losing details, proactive enough to surface problems before they become deadline surprises, and receptive enough to use critique to make the work stronger. You care about the final file as much as the first concept.
What It Takes
- A portfolio that demonstrates strong photo compositing, typography, composition, image layout, and information hierarchy. For collaborative work, be ready to explain your specific contribution.
- Advanced Photoshop capability, including realistic compositing, detailed masking, retouching, color correction, and matching lighting and shadows.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and strong command of core graphic-design fundamentals.
- Demonstrated ability to take a creative brief through finished deliverables with appropriate independence and reliable follow-through.
- Clear written and verbal communication, strong organization, and sound judgment about when to move forward versus when to seek clarification.
What Sets You Apart
Experience creating Amazon or other e-commerce listing imagery, consumer-product marketing, retail or tradeshow graphics, and production-ready print assets will help you ramp faster. Before-and-after compositing examples or breakdowns that show how you built a final image are especially useful. These are differentiators, not substitutes for strong fundamentals and a compelling portfolio.
How We'll Measure Success
- Your work makes the intended product message clear quickly and accurately.
- Composites feel believable, polished, and faithful to the product and approved source assets.
- Assigned projects move reliably from brief to final delivery, with risks and missing inputs surfaced early.
- Files are organized, editable, production-ready, and easy for the team to continue using.
- Feedback improves the work without creating avoidable rework, and your judgment grows as you learn Blue Marble brands and channels.
Is Blue Marble Right for You?
We're intentionally building a culture of people who lead by example, challenge one another respectfully, take ownership of their work, and want to continue learning and improving.
Blue Marble may be exactly the place you're looking for if...
- You take ownership of your words, actions, and work product.
- You value honest, hard conversations and long-term progress over short-term comfort.
- You enjoy solving meaningful problems and seek purposeful work.
- You see feedback as an opportunity to improve and grow.
- You naturally look for ways to make things better and help others succeed.
- You ask questions when something isn't clear.
- You believe character matters as much as competence.
- You proactively bring solutions to problems.
On the other hand, you probably won't enjoy working here if...
- You spend more time making excuses or pointing fingers than solving problems.
- You consistently avoid difficult conversations.
- You believe your responsibility ends with your job description.
- You need someone to constantly tell you what to do.
- You become defensive when receiving constructive feedback.
- You believe being right is more important than finding the best solution.
- You consistently wait for instructions rather than taking appropriate initiative.
- You have difficulty acknowledging mistakes and learning from them.
- You're primarily looking for a paycheck rather than an opportunity to meaningfully contribute.
We're not looking for perfect people.
We're looking for capable people who want to keep getting better and who bring their best to the people and work around them.
If this sounds like you, let's make great things together.
