About this role
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced finance professional to support Bloomberg's Marketing organization, with a primary focus on Advertising & Marketing (A&M) expense management and financial planning.
This role will serve as a key finance partner to Marketing managers, supporting project budgeting, forecasting, and financial outlooks while providing insight into spend, trends, risks, and opportunities. The role will also have hands-on responsibility for the monthly close process and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of Marketing financial results.
The ideal candidate combines strong FP&A experience and financial acumen with attention to detail, an ownership mindset, and strong relationship-building skills. This individual should be equally comfortable managing the details of financial processes and partnering with the business to understand priorities, challenge assumptions, and provide thoughtful financial guidance.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner closely with Marketing managers to develop project budgets, forecasts, and financial outlooks across Advertising & Marketing spend.
- Manage A&M budgeting and forecasting, developing a strong understanding of Marketing initiatives, spending plans, commitments, and key financial drivers.
- Own the monthly close process for A&M expenses, including accruals, reclasses, and other adjustments necessary to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Analyze actual spend against budget and forecast, identifying and communicating key variances, trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Support periodic forecasts and the annual operating plan (AOP), working with Marketing stakeholders to develop assumptions and maintain an informed view of the expense outlook.
- Maintain and manage Marketing cost center structures and hierarchies to support accurate financial reporting, planning, and controls.
- Develop clear, executive-ready reporting and analysis that provides visibility into Marketing spend, financial performance, and key takeaways.
- Partner across Marketing, Finance, Accounting, and other cross-functional teams to resolve financial issues and ensure appropriate accounting and reporting of Marketing expenses.
- Develop and maintain financial models and analyses to support resource allocation, project evaluation, and other business decisions.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve and automate financial reporting, forecasting, close, and planning processes.
- Develop and evolve ROI analysis across Marketing channels, in partnership with Marketing stakeholders, to assess the effectiveness and impact of investments, helping drive future resource allocation decisions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant finance experience, with demonstrated hands-on experience in FP&A, expense management, budgeting, forecasting, or financial reporting.
- Strong understanding of financial planning and monthly close processes, including accruals, reclasses, variance analysis, and expense recognition.
- Demonstrated experience partnering directly with business stakeholders to develop budgets, understand spending plans, and manage financial outlooks.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze financial data, identify key drivers, and develop actionable insights.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality work within recurring financial deadlines.
- High attention to detail with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and follow-through.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across Finance and non-Finance stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with experience using enterprise financial systems such as SAP, Oracle, EPM, or similar platforms.
Key Attributes
- Hands-on finance professional with a strong ownership and execution mindset.
- Collaborative business partner who builds effective relationships and credibility with stakeholders.
- Financially disciplined and detail-oriented, with the ability to connect detailed financial activity to broader business priorities.
- Comfortable challenging assumptions, asking thoughtful questions, and bringing an independent financial perspective.
- Proactive and solutions-oriented, with the ability to identify issues and drive them through resolution.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment and balancing recurring financial responsibilities with evolving business needs.
- Process-minded, with an interest in leveraging systems, data, and automation to improve financial management.
