About this role

The Opportunity

Adobe is seeking an experienced risk and controls leader to join the Chief Accounting Office as Senior Manager, Risk & Controls. This role offers high visibility at the crossroads of finance transformation, technology, and compliance.

As the embedded risk advisor to the Finance & Tech Transformation Office (FTTO), you will collaborate directly with teams driving product launches, process automation, system implementations, and large-scale business transformation initiatives. Your focus will be ensuring that robust controls are built into solutions from the beginning, enabling innovation to move quickly without introducing compliance risks later.

You will have a meaningful role helping the organization coordinate a growing portfolio of optimization products and transformation programs. You will ensure alignment with SOX, ITAC, and ITGC requirements and support business objectives. This position works closely with internal and external auditors to maintain audit readiness, manage evidence, and lead timely remediation of control gaps across the transformation portfolio.

In this position, you can help guide Adobe’s finance operations as they scale and transform, while developing a risk and controls framework that fosters growth and innovation.

What you'll Do

Risk & Controls for Improvement Products

  • Partner with Process Optimization product owners to identify control risk (financial reporting, ITGC, access, data integrity) introduced by new automations, RPA bots, or process redesigns before they become available
  • Design and validate control frameworks for optimization products, while maintaining compliance with SOX and audit requirements
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive risk register, control inventory and governance framework across the optimization product portfolio
  • Act as the expert authority on financial reporting risks, IT Application Controls (ITACs), and IT General Controls (ITGCs for initiatives across the CAO organization

SOX Compliance & Audit Readiness

  • Act as the main point of contact for SOX-IT and ITGC audit inquiries related to transformation, automation and optimization initiatives
  • Partner with Internal Audit, External Audit, product teams, and business stakeholders to ensure controls are designed, documented, tested, and operating effectively
  • Coordinate updates to key financial reporting documentation, including SOX Prioritization, Risk and Control Matrix, Process Flowcharts, and Report Populations
  • Maintain documentation standards so that control build decisions are defensible and traceable

Build and Scale the Risk & Controls Function

  • Establish and grow a high-performing Risk & Controls team supporting Adobe's expanding transformation and optimization portfolio.
  • Define the operating model, processes, tools, and governance required to scale risk coverage as the portfolio grows.
  • Recruit, develop, and mentor team members, creating clear development paths and a strong culture of accountability and partnership.

Program & Collaborator Management

  • Manage a portfolio of risk/controls workstreams while multiple optimization and transformation activities take place.
  • Define and track important metrics for control health, audit findings, and remediation timelines.
  • Build strong relationships across Finance, Technology, Internal Audit, and Transformation teams to drive a proactive risk management mindset.
  • Develop and communicate knowledge through written correspondence and verbal presentations.
  • Document, coordinate, and close open requests from a variety of sources to ensure timely completion.

What you need to succeed

Required

  • 7+ years in risk & controls, SOX/ITGC compliance, internal audit, or GRC program management, ideally with exposure to both finance and technology domains.
  • Public accounting firm experience with SOX, audit, or internal audit functions.
  • Direct, hands-on experience applying ITAC (IT Application Controls) and ITGC (IT General Controls) frameworks, including designing, testing, and remediating controls in live environments.
  • Demonstrated experience embedding controls into system implementations, RPA/automation programs, or large-scale transformation projects (not just post-facto auditing).
  • Deep understanding of SOX 404 requirements, audit methodology, and the full audit lifecycle including Test of Build and Test of Efficiency.
  • Strong collaborator management skills; able to influence without direct authority within Finance, IT, and business teams.
  • Prior people management experience or demonstrated readiness to build and lead a team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred

  • CPA or MBA certification.
  • Professional certification preferred: CISA, CIA, or CPA.
  • Experience with GRC tooling (e.g., Archer, ServiceNow GRC, or equivalent).
  • Experience with automation or process/workflow platforms (e.g., UiPath, SnapLogic, Signavio, Power Automate) from a controls/risk lens.
  • Background in Finance Transformation, Shared Services, or Enterprise system (ERP/EPM) implementations.
  • High emotional intelligence coupled with proficiency in offering challenges in a nuanced, constructive manner.
  • Practical, hands-on approach with mentorship delivered through example.
