Employer-provided description, formatted for easier reading.
Meta is seeking an engineer with a Hardware and Data Center background to shape the future of Meta’s Edge Network. Meta's Edge network is the ingress point for all of customer internet traffic and the performance, stability and efficiency of the hardware and software we are running is critical to keeping Meta’s family of apps working.
This role involves working with other engineers in the space and our external partners to select new hardware, test and validate it for production usage in our edge network.
You will work with our internal teams and external partners for new hardware selection and validation. You will be involved in every step of the process, from the "on paper" evaluation of new hardware through the incorporation of it in our Edge network fleet. This will include benchmark testing and production validation testing, partnering with other internal teams in this process.
Your goal should be the assurance that we are incorporating the highest quality hardware as it relates to the performance of our mission-critical software, while also assuring that the efficiency and TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) is progressively improving. You will also be responsible for the design of the rack-level assembly, including rack switches, power management devices, cooling, cabling, safety, and sensors.
You should stay on top of industry trends in the hardware space and should engage with external vendors as it relates to the advancement of our Edge fleet.
This position involves managing multiple concurrent hardware evaluation and validation efforts wherein you will work directly with a small team of experienced engineers. You'll own the strategy and execution for this space and its overall success as we move forward and explore new opportunities to expand our Edge footprint while driving down costs.
You will be responsible for ensuring that the new hardware designs meet the needs of the software development teams within our Edge infrastructure.
