POSITION OVERVIEW – Technical Project Manager I

This role leads the execution of multiple industrialization and manufacturing readiness projects within a highly matrixed organization, bridging machine installation through full operational readiness.

The role coordinates schedules, resources, and interdependencies across technical and support teams, and calls for a hands-on, technically grounded project manager with strong schedule integration skills and advanced Smartsheet proficiency who can influence across functions without direct authority.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Execution & Schedule Integration

  • Lead multiple concurrent industrialization projects, including line modifications for capacity increases and new line installations for expanded capabilities
  • Integrate multiple complex schedules (e.g., machine installation, tooling, programming, qualification) into a single master project plan
  • Identify and actively manage critical-path interdependencies across teams and workstreams

Smartsheet Architecture & Reporting

  • Build and maintain Smartsheet project architectures from scratch, including templates, automated workflows, and dashboards
  • Provide real-time visibility into schedule health, constraints, and risks for leadership and stakeholders
  • Serve as the Smartsheet "power user" for complex, multi-line industrialization programs

Industrialization & Operational Readiness

  • Lead scheduling and coordination for machine start-up, process development, programming, tooling, fixtures, and part qualification
  • Ensure alignment between engineering deliverables and manufacturing readiness
  • Drive a disciplined handoff from project execution to production ownership

Cross-Functional Coordination (Matrixed Environment)

  • Act as the central execution "hub" across CAPEX, CAD/CAM, Deployment, Development, Quality, and Fixture/Part Movement teams
  • Coordinate daily across technical and support organizations with shared resources
  • Resolve priority and resource conflicts through influence and data-driven tradeoffs

Resource, Risk & Procurement Management

  • Identify resource bottlenecks and negotiate solutions to protect project milestones
  • Track procurement timing and delivery of tooling, fixtures, and other critical purchased items
  • Proactively adjust schedules based on supplier push/pull to minimize impact on start-up dates

Communication & Governance

  • Facilitate regular project status and execution reviews
  • Provide clear, actionable updates to technical experts, manufacturing leaders, and the stakeholders who will ultimately own the processes
  • Drive structured issue resolution and escalation as needed

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field (a general technical degree is acceptable)
  • Minimum of 5–10 years of project management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Advanced Smartsheet proficiency
  • Strong schedule integration capability
  • PMP certification strongly preferred
  • Strong influential leadership skills in a matrixed organization
  • Ability to manage complex interdependencies without direct budget or people authority
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced shop-floor environment
  • Highly organized, execution-focused, and data-driven
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes; experience in Aerospace or Power Generation preferred

MUST HAVE

  • 5–10 years of project management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Advanced Smartsheet proficiency (templates, automated workflows, dashboards)
  • Ability to integrate multiple complex schedules into a single master plan
  • Ability to influence across functions in a matrixed organization without direct authority
