Profile Summary

The Principal Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) is a technical expert and strategic leader responsible for the reliability, scalability, performance, and operational excellence of enterprise platforms and services. This role drives automation, observability, and resiliency initiatives across the organization, ensuring systems are secure, highly available, and aligned with business objectives.

Profile Description

  • Lead the reliability, scalability, and operational readiness of enterprise platforms and critical systems.
  • Drive SRE best practices, including automation, monitoring, incident management, and capacity planning.
  • Act as a key technical leader for platform resiliency, availability, disaster recovery, and performance optimization.
  • Partner with engineering, infrastructure, security, and product teams to improve system reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Mentor engineers and promote a culture of ownership, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Solve complex challenges involving distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, production operations, and large-scale platforms.
  • Champion Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD, automation, observability, and cloud-native technologies.
  • Influence enterprise technology strategy and represent SRE priorities in cross-functional and leadership discussions.

Knowledge & Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, cloud engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Deep expertise in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), distributed systems, infrastructure automation, and observability tools.
  • Strong experience managing reliability, availability, scalability, and performance for business-critical systems.
  • Track record of leading complex technical initiatives with enterprise-wide impact.
  • Experience mentoring senior engineers and driving operational excellence across teams.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and strategic problem-solving skills.

Compensation

Pay Disclosure

Voya is committed to pay that’s fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.

The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives.

Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.

Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate’s geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

$149,000-$190,000
