The Senior IT Project Manager (“Senior PM”) is responsible for leading the successful delivery of complex, high impact Information Technology initiatives across the Firm. This role oversees the full lifecycle of multiple concurrent projects and programs, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives, budgetary constraints, and delivery timelines.

In addition to hands on project leadership, the Senior PM serves as a strategic partner to IT and Firm leadership, providing portfolio level oversight, governance, and guidance. The Senior PM establishes and enforces project management standards and plays a key role in advancing project management best practices across the IT organization. This position will report to the Director of IT.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full lifecycle of complex, high visibility IT projects and multi project programs from initiation through closure.
  • Serve in a project consulting role to I.T. leaders
  • Define project scope, success criteria, resource plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring alignment with Firm priorities.
  • Develop and manage integrated project plans that address cross project dependencies and enterprise wide impacts.
  • Partner with IT and Firm leadership to manage and prioritize the IT project portfolio, balancing business value, risk, and capacity.
  • Provide strategic input on project sequencing, delivery roadmaps, and long term technology initiatives.
  • Advise leadership on feasibility, delivery risk, and resourcing considerations for proposed initiatives.
  • Oversee project and program budgets, including forecasting, variance analysis, and cost controls.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership and other firm departments and sections on business cases, vendor proposals, and investment justification.
  • Ensure effective utilization of internal and external resources across assigned initiatives.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project and portfolio level risks and issues.
  • Lead change management efforts related to technology implementations, including communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet established quality standards and adhere to Firm and IT best practices.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for senior stakeholders on assigned initiatives.
  • Deliver concise, outcome focused status reporting to IT leadership and Firm management.
  • Facilitate leadership staff meeting, project steering meetings, executive updates, and post implementation reviews.
  • Define, implement, and enforce project management standards, methodologies, and governance frameworks across IT.
  • Support development of ServiceNow and/or other low-code/no-code applications
  • Analyze project performance metrics and lessons learned to drive continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the ongoing maturity of project management practices and tools within the Firm.
  • Manage relationships with key technology vendors and external partners.
  • Oversee vendor performance, deliverables, and issue resolution to ensure contractual and quality expectations are met.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and guidance to Project Managers and other project resources.
  • Support talent development, knowledge sharing, and adoption of best practices across the project management function.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as requested to support IT and Firm objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Certifications in PMP, CAPM, etc. preferred.
  • 15+ years of project management experience within a legal or professional services organization required.
  • Must have experience leading software development and infrastructure projects and a solid understanding of all stages in a project lifecycle.
  • Experience in facilitating requirements gathering sessions with key stakeholders
  • Experience with ServiceNow and/or other low-code/no-code platforms
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to influence others.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment, prioritize multiple projects on a daily basis, and adjust to shifting priorities.
  • Strong planning, project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency and a high-energy level.
  • Facility analyzing, working with and presenting data.
  • Ability to collaborate and gain the respect, trust, and confidence of the Firm’s attorneys and professional staff.
  • Possess a “hands-on” tactical approach.
  • Creative and proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Facilitate teamwork and identify opportunities to develop new processes/infrastructure.

  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint. Along with Project Management solutions such as MS Project or Monday.com.

Physical Demands

This position requires sitting or standing for long periods of time and the continuous operation of standard office equipment, such as computers, keyboards and phones. It also requires sufficient mobility to perform certain job functions, such as getting to photocopiers/scanners/fax machines, and regular bending, reaching, lifting, stooping and occasionally pulling, pushing and/or lifting items that weigh up to 25 pounds.

The salary range for this position in Boston is $170,000-$195,000
