About this role

Employer-provided description, formatted for easier reading.

Job Description:

In this role you will design experiences for homeowners, dealers, and service professionals across mobile apps, web tools, and connected pool devices. You will work within our UI/UX team, with design direction from the Senior UI/UX Specialist and Experience Lead. You will partner with Product Management, Product Owners, Engineering, QA, and industrial design to make ideas clear, testable, and ready to build.

You will help establish a product design studio in Apex where customers and dealers can try app and device concepts before delivery. We are looking for someone who enjoys turning complex journeys into simple experiences, moving from rough sketches to polished prototypes, and learning directly from how people use a product.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate product opportunities into personas, journey maps, low-fidelity concepts, high-fidelity designs, and interactive prototypes for mobile, web, and device HMI experiences.
  • Design role-based experiences for owners, admins, guests, dealers, and service professionals, including appropriate access and permission boundaries.
  • Create workflows for shared-access invitations and onboarding, property-to-pool-to-device mapping, and multi-property management; explore account linking and ownership transfer when approved as future priorities.
  • Address empty states, errors, recovery paths, and edge cases so experiences work for real customers, not only ideal scenarios.
  • Use Figma and AI-assisted design features to explore ideas efficiently, with careful human review of all outputs.
  • Plan and run moderated usability tests, user interviews, and UX surveys with homeowners, dealers, and other users; synthesize findings into specific design changes.
  • Help run realistic app and HMI demonstrations in the Apex product studio and share evidence with the Experience Lead and delivery partners.
  • Contribute reusable components, interaction patterns, accessibility improvements, and documentation to the design system.
  • Participate in discovery workshops, implementation reviews, and selected dealer or customer events when useful to the work.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Typically 5 to 8 years of product, UX, or interaction design experience, with a portfolio of complex digital workflows.
  • Strong Figma skills and comfort with both low-fidelity exploration and high-fidelity interactive prototyping.
  • Direct experience planning and conducting usability tests and UX surveys, synthesizing feedback, and explaining recommendations.
  • Ability to collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, and QA from discovery through implementation.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and organization skills across US and India-based teams.

Desired Skills & Attributes:

  • Experience with connected products, mobile apps, web tools, physical-device interfaces, or HMIs.
  • Familiarity with access control, multi-tenant or hierarchy-based journeys, account experiences, and design systems.
  • Comfort using AI-assisted Figma capabilities or related tools responsibly to speed ideation and prototyping.
  • Customer empathy, curiosity, and the confidence to propose new ideas and validate them with users.
  • Experience facilitating in-person research or demos; ability to travel occasionally as needed.
