Senior Application Software Engineer - C++

Weston, FL | Hybrid | 12-Month+ Contract Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM-5:00 PM ET

3-4 Days Onsite | 1-2 Days Remote

Our client is seeking a

Senior Application Software Engineer

to develop production-level application software for a complex technology platform. This is a senior, hands-on development role focused on C++ application software running within a PC-based environment and interfacing with multiple systems.

The engineer will join an established Agile development team and will be expected to quickly become productive within an existing architecture, codebase, and engineering environment.

This position is expected to begin as a 12-month contract with the potential for extension.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain production-level application software using

C++ and object-oriented programming

• Work within an established software architecture and existing codebase
• Translate software requirements and architectural specifications into reliable application components
• Participate throughout the full

software development lifecycle

, including requirements review, design, coding, unit testing, integration, troubleshooting, and release activities

• Develop and maintain unit and component tests
• Participate in code reviews, static analysis, code coverage, and other software quality activities
• Troubleshoot complex software defects, perform root-cause analysis, and implement effective solutions
• Create software design, test, and technical documentation
• Collaborate with software engineers, product owners, testers, Scrum Masters, and technical subject matter experts
• Participate in Agile sprint planning and other development activities
• Work with

CI/CD pipelines, source control, build systems, testing tools, and defect-management tools

• Communicate technical decisions, development progress, dependencies, risks, and potential schedule impacts

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in

Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical field

• 4+ years of professional software development experience

, with 5-10+ years preferred for the senior-level scope

• Strong professional

C++ development experience

• Strong knowledge of

object-oriented programming and application software development

• Experience developing production software within a PC/application-level environment
• Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including

data structures, algorithms, design patterns, testing, and the full SDLC

• Ability to quickly become productive within an existing architecture, codebase, and development environment

Important:

Candidates coming primarily from embedded software backgrounds must also have substantial

PC/application-level C++ development experience

Preferred Experience

• Qt/QML
• Linux and/or Docker
• CI/CD and modern source control tools
• Unit testing, code coverage, and static/dynamic code analysis
• Linear algebra, computational geometry, 3D graphics, computer vision, or image processing
• Experience developing software for

complex, hardware-integrated systems

• Experience working within mature software development and quality processes
• Previous success quickly ramping up on contract or consulting software assignments

Hybrid Schedule

This position is based in

Weston, Florida

and requires regular access to onsite systems and equipment. Engineers should expect to work onsite approximately

3-4 days per week

, with 1-2 days remote.

Additional onsite time may be required during onboarding or when development and testing activities require direct access to equipment.
