Job Overview

The Senior Designer develops and delivers visual projects for the Human Rights Foundation. Working under the guidance of the Creative Director, the Senior Designer leads design projects from concept through completion, while providing design direction, mentorship, and guidance to junior members of the creative team as needed.

The Senior Designer ensures that all creative outputs align with HRF’s mission, strategy, brand, and design standards.

The role combines concept development and ideation with hands-on design execution, mentorship, and cross-departmental collaboration to maintain a cohesive, impactful, and high-quality brand presence across all HRF touchpoints.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead projects from initiation to completion, from conceptualization and execution through production, working closely with Project Management.
• Develop concepts, experiences, and designs that bring the Human Rights Foundation and its various programs and events to life, with a particular focus on HRF’s flagship event, the Oslo Freedom Forum, an annual three-day human rights conference in Oslo, Norway.
• Support the Creative Director in concept and design development for large-scale, complex projects, from campaigns and events to experiential activations.
• Own assigned projects and tasks from brief through final delivery, producing high-quality work on time while effectively managing individual priorities and timelines.
• Execute designs independently with strong craft and attention to detail, incorporating feedback constructively and efficiently.
• Document design systems through guidelines and finalize templates and asset files for delivery.
• Realize projects with the highest level of creativity while adhering to the brief, scope, and schedule.
• Produce high-quality design assets across print, digital, and environmental applications.
• Create mockups for events and activations, as well as reports, posters, merchandise, and other branded assets and collateral.
• Ensure adherence to brand guidelines, maintaining consistency and a high standard of production quality across all deliverables.
• Develop familiarity with and provide recommendations and input on production processes, including print specifications, fabrication methods, and material selections.

Key Skills and Qualifications

Education

• Background or degree in design (Graphic Design BFA)
• 5-7 years of experience

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma
• Strong Print Production
• 3D experience

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $90,000 – $110,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
