Senior Java Platform Engineer

A global financial services institution, known for its extensive network and innovative solutions, is seeking a talented engineer to drive critical platform development. The Role

• Lead the engineering and architectural vision for a global check payment platform, guiding a scrum team in delivering mission-critical capabilities.
• Design, build, and review production-grade Java microservices for high-volume, low-latency financial transaction processing.
• Architect event-driven, fault-tolerant distributed systems using technologies like Kafka, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs.
• Define and govern data architecture across Oracle, Microsoft SQL, and MongoDB, ensuring data consistency and optimal performance.
• Drive the modernisation roadmap, migrating legacy mainframe components to cloud-native microservices and ensuring platform security and compliance.
• Embed AI-powered engineering practices to enhance code quality, automate testing, and accelerate vulnerability identification.

What You'll Need

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a senior engineering leadership capacity.
• Extensive hands-on Java engineering expertise in high-throughput production environments, including JVM performance tuning and thread management.
• Proven experience designing microservices architectures with Spring Boot/MVC, RESTful APIs, and cloud-native deployments.
• Deep practical expertise in Kafka, covering topic design, partitioning strategies, and high-throughput stream processing.
• Hands-on database engineering across Oracle, Microsoft SQL, and MongoDB, including schema design and query optimisation.
• Experience with cloud-native infrastructure such as OpenShift, AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker, and CI/CD pipeline design.
